Overview

Pacific Instruments is looking for a Test Technician to join their team in Concord, CA. Pacific Instruments is part of Vishay Precision Group (VPG), a worldwide component manufacturer. As part of the Test Department Team, the Test Technician will perform production test and RMA repairs & calibrations on both Pacific Instruments and Micro-Measurements data acquisition equipment. Work load includes newer high density surface mount (SMT) designs as well as seasoned older "though hole" units.

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:

  • Follow formal procedures to test, repair & calibrate new production units and customer field returns.

  • Record performance test data and make proper adjustments or component changes for operation within published specifications.

  • Operate automated testers with preprogrammed testing routines for operational verification and troubleshooting.

  • Work with Engineering, Production and Inventory Control Departments to resolve manufacturing issues.

  • Follow and enforce industry standard ESD handling procedures to prevent component damage.

  • Provide stewardship of process documentation consisting of written procedures, work orders and test data sheets.

  • Mastery of existing and new test processes and calibration procedures.

  • Provide support for product lines from Pacific Instruments & Micro-Measurements.

Qualifications

Main Requirements:

  • Two year technical school electronics training (AA or AS degree preferred)

  • 5+ years' experience troubleshooting boards to component level

  • Proficiency in soldering "though hole" and "surface mount" devices. (fine pitch work desired)

  • Excellent work ethic: professional presentation, personal responsibility and punctuality.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Skills to troubleshoot digital and analog electronic circuits.

  • Working knowledge of laboratory equipment use and operation: DMMs, Signal Generators, O-scopes.

  • Capable of reading electronic schematics, wiring diagrams and understanding principles of circuit operation.

  • Ability to troubleshoot independently to the component level, locating and repairing manufacturing defects or defective components.

  • Working knowledge of Windows computers and Office applications: Outlook, Word & Excel.

  • Familiarity with use of production control ERP systems
