The test technician will be responsible for day-to-day support for testing automotive systems, sub-systems and components. Prepares full vehicles for testing and returns vehicle to pre-test condition after testing is complete. Installs and verifies test instrumentation such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, shunts, flow meters, etc. Creates fixtures or parts modifications for specialized tests. Conducts basic equipment setup diagnostics and troubleshooting. Operates and modifies complex data acquisition equipment and analysis software as needed. Evaluates and confirms test data for accuracy and consistency. Potential for occasional travel to test locations as necessary overtime and afternoon shift work is required.
The selected candidate will be required to become familiar and comply with Jacobs and Client policies for safety, security, and the rules associated with outside contractors working on-site.
This position will have direct, daily interface with client engineering staff and external customers. Under direct supervision, the test technician will prepare and conduct standard and special tests on vehicle parts and full vehicle assemblies. This position requires a basic understanding of procedures and techniques in a trained area of expertise. Specific responsibilities include:
Manages test schedule and test equipment
Prepares, installs, and performs tests on vehicle assemblies, parts, and material samples
Fuel vehicles between tests
Troubleshoot and repair vehicle instrumentation
Install and remove vehicle components as needed to meet test requirements
Fabricate/modify parts and/or vehicles to meet design intent
Test and analyze parts by performing bench testing and testing on-vehicle
Troubleshooting design related problems and suggesting countermeasures
Compile and report test data to test requestor and supervisor
Collection and inventory control of test parts as directed
Read and learn test standards to ensure correct application of test methodology
Maintain testing equipment and keep testing space organized, clean, and safe
Source, purchase, and manage inventory of consumable test supplies
Services will be delivered at a client facility.
Minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience.
Preference for an associates' degree in a technical discipline such as Automotive Technology.
Fabrications skills are desirable.
The candidate must be able to read and interpret technical literature and manufacturers specifications.

Provide constructive feedback on tasks and the manner in which they are executed
Read and interpret technical literature and manufacturers' specifications
Proficient with PCs and common software, e.g. Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook or Lotus Notes, and Adobe Acrobat
Ability to follow safe working practices.
Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, and other gear, as required.
