The test technician will work at Penske Technology Group's (PTG) test lab and should possess prior experience with the operation of computer controlled test equipment. The technician will work with engineering personnel to conduct vehicle dynamic, aerodynamic and various research and development testing. This position requires the ability to understand procedural manuals and engineering/CAD drawings as well as using precision metrology and measurement equipment to execute work orders. Knowledge of strain gauge instrumentation, computerized data acquisition systems and mechanical/electrical/electronic systems is essential. A background in automotive R&D is preferred. This position does require a flexible schedule, overtime is needed to accomplish on time delivery; sometimes with short notice.


  • Conduct automotive testing in the test lab.

  • Instrumentation calibration and installation.

  • Design, develop and build test fixtures.

  • Write test procedures.

  • Document test reports.

  • Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.

  • Electrical and instrumentation wiring.

  • Assemble mechanical components.


  • Associates of Science (AS) degree and/or Engineering Technology (BSET) degree preferred.

  • At least 1-2 years of relevant work experience.

  • Basic knowledge and experience of machining and machine tools.

  • Extensive computer experience.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Perform electromechanical equipment maintenance (DC motors, drives, bearings, PLC's

  • Ability to use computer controlled test equipment in an effective and safe manner.

  • Ability to interface with Engineering personnel.

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and prepare reports and documentation.

  • Ability to solder and crimp electrical connectors to neatly route and secure instrumentation wiring, cabling, looms, sensors, etc.

  • Ability to configure and secure wireless and computer networks.

  • Must be able to wear a harness and work at heights up to 20 feet above ground.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds.

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Operations Technician in Mooresville, NC. Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations, the primary purpose of the Operations Technician is to be responsible for handling of natural gas equipment as it related to engines/compressors, gas engines/compressors, electrical motors/pumps, and valves along with the maintenance and troubleshooting of all related subsystems, including start/stop, safety shutdown and combustion controls. In addition to performing operations-related duties. Responsibilities * Maintain and operate natural gas compressor station equipment, remote valve sites, and pipeline rights-of way. Accurately maintain and complete all maintenance records, service reports, and other required documents within Williams. * Operate and maintain meter stations, valves, pipes, pigging equipment, right-of-ways, and all other facilities as needed. * Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities associated with compressor stations. * Maintain and troubleshoot all related subsystems which include: starting, stopping, safety shutdowns, and combustion controls. * Maintain and operate auxiliary equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, filters, instrumentation, controls, etc.). * Maintain and operate remote valve sites. (Greasing, draining de-misters, checking reservoirs, etc.)Interface with technical services, government agencies, emergency planning committees, emergency responders, landowners, contractors, etc. * Handle facility encroachment activities including pipe location, excavation, and inspection resulting from one-call notifications and/or direct calls. * Respond to mandatory after hour work as needed for routine on-call rotations. Qualifications Required * A High School Diploma or equivalent. * At least five (5) years of natural gas pipeline, plant maintenance, and/or oil and gas experience. * Possess knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs) (Allen Bradley line), PLC programming, HMI proficiencies, Wonderware, and/or field I/O devices. * Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, walk and/or stand for long periods of time, withstand outside weather conditions. * Ability to wear safety gear, protective equipment, gloves, uniforms, and other articles of safety clothing or gear as required by OSHA,DOT, or other regulatory agencies. * Ability to work after hours, on-call rotations, which may require some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. * Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work in both a team setting and individually with minimal supervision. * Demonstrates an intermediate knowledge of general computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), but has the willingness and ability to learn company specific programs. * Willingness to follow and support company policies and procedures. Preferred * Two-year technical degree in instrumentation, electrical, mechanics, and/or related field. * At least seven (7) years of natural gas pipeline, plant maintenance, and/or oil and gas experience. * An I&E/Automation background is highly desirable.
