This position has responsibility for providing support for all of the automated, electronic and electro-mechanical production systems that
are in use at SICK, Inc. The position is part of the team of engineers working to support and develop production processes, systems and analysis.
Perform diagnostic troubleshooting of product and production system failures.
Support implementation of new production tools and technologies, including software and electronic hardware development.
Perform system preventative maintenance, repair, and qualification activities.
Build, document and qualify simple assemblies (power interface, cable, communications interface).
Development of process documentation and electronic based work instructions.
Interface with other departments and interns to gain knowledge of the business, products, positions and more.
Provide innovative recommendations on how SICK can improve.
Complete a final presentation at the close of the internship that outlines the involved project(s) and knowledge gained.
Provide feedback on the internship experience at the close of the internship.
Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.
Education and Experience:
(transistor, op-amp, linear, digital, etc.) is necessary.
Experience in a structured programming language. C++ experience preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot problems, ability to solder, and understanding of ESD procedures are important. Bench experience strongly preferred.
Knowledgeable in common PC applications, specifically MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
Legally permitted to work in the United States.
Ability to work in a general office environment.
