Job Description:

The Jandrisevits Learning Center (JLC) is SHU's central academic support service and is open to all SHU students. Our mission is to provide academic support to strengthen student learning and empower every student to develop as self-directed learners. The JLC contributes to the SHU mission of appreciating each student's unique qualities and preparing the student for lifelong learning. The Office of Student Accessibility (OSA) coordinates and provides reasonable accommodations, auxiliary aids and services to students who disclose a disability to the university, assisting in the provision of equal access across university programs.

We are currently accepting applications for the part-time position of Test Proctor.

Test Proctor Duties

  • Provides overall quality assurance while proctoring by verifying student identities, seating arrangements and monitoring examinees.

  • Assist test supervisors in administering exams and ensuring that smooth testing procedures are evitable.

  • Provide seating instructions to candidates and ensure that they find their seats in the examination room.

  • Continuously monitor candidates as they complete exams.

  • Work with students who have need of special accommodations, including but not limited to providing a positive testing climate.

  • Provide pencils, pens and scrap paper if asked.

  • Assist students in using the Read & Write software.

  • Assist students in using Examsoft software.

  • Assist students in saving essays on flash drive (provided by the Testing Coordinator).

  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all testing materials, test logs, and other test documents.

  • Must be vigilant - able to pay close attention to cheating or prevention of cheating; able to administer Testing Center rules.

  • Maintain a quiet atmosphere appropriate to testing.

  • Ensure that candidate do not possess any materials that are in violation of test protocols.

  • Proctor the exam room and ensure that candidates do not indulge in misconduct.

  • Ensure that testing policies and protocols are followed.

  • Inform candidates of time restrictions and provide them with periodic time warnings.

  • Communicate with the Student Success Coordinator and the Office of Student Accessibility staff to answer questions posed by candidates and resolve issues during tests.

  • Collect exam papers from candidates and instruct them to exit exam rooms.

  • Return testing materials to the appropriate JLC staff.

Reporting

  • Works in collaboration with the Testing Center Coordinator, but direct oversight is by the Assistant Director of Office of Student Accessibilty.

Record-keeping and Reports

  • Maintains a Confidential List of all students who are registered with the Office of Student Accessibility.

  • Fill out the time sheet each week and return time sheets to proctor coordinator.

  • Prepare documentation of cheating or dishonesty to assist in student discipline process.

  • Inventory and order exams on an ongoing basis.

  • Collect exam papers from candidates and instruct them to exit exam rooms.

  • Ensure that each exam paper has been collected by employing counting activities

All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Reporting Skills, Administrative Writing Skills, Microsoft Office Skills, Managing Processes, Organization, Analyzing Information , Professionalism, Problem Solving, Verbal Communication.

Additional Information:

  • This is an hourly position which follows the academic calendar.

  • Working hours will vary, with morning, afternoon and evening shifts available, Monday-Friday.

  • Due to this being a student-centered position, flexibilty with schedule is appreciated.

  • This position is not benefits eligible.
