Position Overview
As a Laboratory QC Technician, this role will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and integrity of our raw materials. You will be responsible for performing quality control checks for all incoming raw materials, ensuring that all key quality parameters are met. This role will involve working closely with various departments including operations, warehouse, safety, maintenance, and manufacturing.
What you'll do
Sampling of all raw materials, conducting tests following specific written procedures to ensure they are within specs and recording the data. A product must not be released unless it satisfies the specs. Make records of all quality activities per specified procedures.
Develop and implement color formulations and finishes, ensuring alignment with internal specifications through precise color matching and adjustments. Collaborate with the production team to maintain consistent color quality, perform quality control checks, and document all formulations and adjustments.
Handle the receipt, review, filing, and maintenance of raw material Certificates of Analysis (CoA), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Certificates of Compliance (CoC).
Utilize problem-solving techniques within the laboratory to assist production in identifying, managing and resolving product and quality issues, and communicate in a timely manner.
Assist in testing and root cause analysis of manufacturing coating and products. Analyzing retrieved data and prepares reports for laboratory management.
Testing coating formulations, films, fibers, and textiles using various analytical tools which includes viscosity, color, cross sectional analysis, temperature, density, reflection, and appearance through numerous instrumentation methods, to include but not limited to Microscopy, UV-Vis, IR, Color Spectrophotometry, Viscometry, Particle Size, and Rheology.
Prepare coating sample formulations, films, fabric samples etc. and ship to 3rd parties as needed
Perform physical tests on films and fabrics according to ASTM, AATCC, company, and/or customer standards including FR tests.
All other duties as assigned
Who you are
Two plus years of experience in a chemical laboratory setting, including the safe handling and mixing of chemicals, documenting experiments, and operating scientific equipment is preferred
Experience in textile manufacturing is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Good eye for color and coating formulation experience. Understanding of Lab Color Space.
Must understand math and chemistry
Proven ability to work on own initiative, multitask, prioritize work and willingness to change direction and focus to meet shifting organizational and business demands.
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrate accuracy, integrity, and professionalism, and possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills while meeting ethical and innovative standards.
The ability to be organized and self-managed, testing and releasing raw materials in a timely fashion.
