Job Title: Test Lab Manager
Reports To: Managing Director of Health Care Packaging
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Test Lab
Responsibilities include daily management of the laboratory, assigning tasks to employees, managing the test schedule and interfacing with test clients by performing the following duties
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Training of Lab technician on protocol, test requirements, documentation requirements.
Assigning/Managing workflow. Will be directing employees on daily tasks.
Interface with clients on test programs and requirements.
Ability to work on proposals and quotes.
Ability to clearly write and create procedures. Technical writing as necessary for creation of required reports, specifications, summarizations and other technical documentation.
Must understand the concepts of Temperature and Vibration Testing.
Must understand how to read and interrupt specifications including MDD, ISTA, ASTM and IEC.
Must have experience working with ISO 17025 Quality System.
Must have knowledge of how calibration systems work.
Provide input on how to improve the lab process.
Will be required to be hands on running tests.
Reports to Director on daily/ weekly basis on updated and pertinent information.
Maintaining the lab space keeping it organized by practicing 5S and Lean practices daily.
Tracks and manages progress and technical issues. This includes schedules and technical performance metrics.
Interfaces directly with the other functional groups to ensure that goals and objectives are met.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
3-5 years technical experience in ISTA/ASTM certified laboratory space.
3-5 years project management / project engineering.
Must have experience in generation / tracking of project schedule, engineering resource allocation and task assignments, budgets, requirements management and customer interface. Outstanding engineering and project skills including machinery applications and computer skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
Experience developing all required project documentation.
In depth knowledge of Temperature Shock and Vibration Testing.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; MAS 500; AutoCad; Solidworks; ArtiosCad; Cape; Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Project.
