Summary of Position
We have an immediate opening for an Engineering Supervisor in our Environmental Solutions Group Test Lab. This role manages engineering employees and provides guidance to subordinates within latitude of established policies and recommends changes as needed. Acts as an advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities. Administers and executes policies and procedures affecting subordinate work group. Accomplishes tasks mainly through direct supervision of assigned resources.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluates ESG products following test protocols which require data acquisition, data reduction and analysis on new and current product designs.
Develops comprehensive test plans and test reports for test and development projects.
Directs department activities to manage the test and development of existing designs to reduce manufacturing cost, improve reliability reducing warranty cost and improve product performance.
Reviews and evaluates cost reduction proposals from other sources, compiles appropriate information, makes recommendations to test, and assess results obtained.
Manage project(s) to test and analyze design of product (i.e. changes driven by federal/ state regulations or major component suppliers).
Coordinates Lab support to provide assistance to Field Service and/or Production to assist in troubleshooting, performance and/ or warranty issues.
Administers personnel functions including goal setting, performance evaluations, hiring, and salary adjustments.
Evaluates machine performance vs. customer expectations using specified test procedures. Communicate applicable information with internal and external customers.
Performs research and development in such areas as mechanical, hydraulic, thermal, thermodynamic, heat transfer, and energy efficiency for production and prototype equipment.
Applies pertinent research to planning, to evaluate mechanical or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines and other associated systems.
Collaborates with external laboratories and other resources to assist in providing test and development services.
May supervise support personnel in the preparation of designing, testing and prototyping.
Follows and comply with all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
Flexibility to perform other duties and assignments as required.
Bachelor Degree in related engineering discipline from an accredited university required. Master's Degree or at least 10 years of industry related experience in lieu of an advanced degree, a plus.
Eight years of engineering experience required.
Previous direct supervisory experience is highly desired.
Provide direct project direction and focus to subordinates; Take an active role in participating in projects, problem solving and troubleshooting to ensure project is delivered on time and within budget.
Positively influence customers, suppliers, peers and superiors in alignment with business goals/objectives;
Develop (directly or through others) innovative technical concepts and solve problems; gain cooperation of others.
Possesses strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to clearly communicate technical information and project status, both verbally and in writing;
Thorough understanding of the appropriate 3D CAD software and other tool sets as required by the specific position or function.
Experience in the key activities and responsibilities of the position attributes as required by the specific position or function (i.e. complex mechanisms, assemblies, acoustic, optical and welded structures.)
