Role Description

The Test Infrastructure team at Form Energy is seeking a Test Equipment Engineer who will focus on the software, data acquisition, analysis, and visualization of data into and out of our test stands. This position will serve as an exciting opportunity to support the design and deployment of equipment used in R&D and full-scale testing of our iron-air batteries. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that enable accurate, efficient, and automated testing methodologies.

As a Test Equipment Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of test equipment, including the software, hardware, data pipeline and all systems tailored for the testing of batteries used in energy storage systems. You will contribute to the fabrication and prototyping of test equipment as well as the software tools used to operate our automated test systems. What You'll Do:

  • Contribute to the design, development and implementation of test equipment with a focus on software and data tools tailored for the testing of batteries used in energy storage systems (ESS).

  • Be a key resource for data integrity and data visualization tools used on our automated test systems.

  • Write test software to deliver rapid updates and meet test infrastructure objectives.

  • Own the collection, output, and quality of data from the test lab.

  • Identify and maintain software, electrical and mechanical improvement projects, creating metrics to visualize impact of results

  • Support the fabrication and prototyping of test equipment components and subsystems, working closely with internal and external fabrication teams.

  • Provide on-the-ground technical support, maintenance and troubleshooting of test equipment and software.

  • Collaborate on the design/development of custom liquid-handling, electromechanical and electrical systems in support of test stand improvements and simplification.

What You'll Bring:

  • A BS degree in a relevant Engineering or Computer Science field

  • Ability to manage and analyze data via Python and cloud-based data visualization tools (Grafana, Tableau, etc.) to inform data-driven design improvements

  • Familiarity with battery test equipment/software (e.g., Arbin, Maccor) for precise performance evaluation and analysis

  • Experience in software design used in the control and automation of test hardware, including release management

  • Familiarity with hardware automated controls systems (PLCs, Microcontrollers, etc.)

  • Experience designing reliable, robust equipment used in medium- to high-volume manufacturing/production environments.

  • Knowledge of instrumentation and data acquisition systems used for monitoring and controlling fluid processes in testing environments.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
