The Low Voltage Hardware team is responsible for designing and testing the electrical "nervous system" of Tesla vehicles. Our goal is to design circuit boards to distribute power from the battery to each electrical device as efficiently as possible. We control hundreds of electrical devices including motors, sensors, switches, and LEDs to power user-facing systems such as seats, doors, HVAC, powertrain, safety, chassis, exteriors, lighting, and more.
Architect, design, test, and maintain hardware & firmware for custom automated circuit board validation system
Start-to-finish hardware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematic, layout supervision, prototype, validation, and manufacturing of circuit boards
Start-to-finish firmware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, validation, and over-the-air updates
Ensure testers are ready for worldwide deployment & meet the needs of all internal customers
Collaborate with program management, supply chain, internal customers, and technicians
Document design requirements, calculations, power budgets, validation results, build instructions, etc
Manage new features, track bugs, and releases
Lead junior engineers, interns, and technicians
Rapidly iterate as design requirements mature over time
Experience shipping high-volume circuit boards
Knowledge of automotive design requirements & autonomous vehicle systems (fail-safe redundancy)
Experience with object-oriented programming and inheritance
Ability to write, test, and debug structured Python code
Experience in multi-threaded Python programming
PC administration (spec hardware/software, manage/deploy fleet of PCs)
Lab equipment automation (power supplies, thermal chambers, oscilloscopes, etc)
