Title:
Test Engineer
Work is in support of the Air National Guard (ANG) Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC) a unit of the ANG, stationed at Tucson Air National Guard Base, Arizona. AATC has engineering and test responsibility for the National Guard Bureau. It conducts operational test and evaluation (OT&E) for the Air Reserve Component (ARC) components and other Major Commands (MAJCOMs) exercising lead command authority over a variety of ARC possessed Mission Design Series (MDS) systems and associated weapons, sensors, and support equipment. Work will be performed at AATC Building 10 Tucson, AZ with travel to various AF, ANG, and USAFR sites.
Work with Air Force major commands (MAJCOM), system program offices (SPOs) and other related engineering offices.
Conduct research, development, test and evaluation to determine the operational suitability and effectiveness of candidate developmental sensors and systems that address modernization requirement identified in the annual ANG Weapons System Modernization Priorities Book, and Air Force Reserve Modernization Book as well as requirements provided to AATC by the MAJCOMs.
Evaluate reliability, maintainability, quality, supportability, and interoperability (RMQSI) support in relation to the following weapons systems: KC-1 35, C/LC/ EC/HC/MC-130, C-5, C-17, E-8C, F- 16C/D, A-1 OC, HH-60G, F- 15C/D, MQ-1 Predator, MQ-9 Reaper, Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS), and Command & Control (C2) as well as support equipment for other ARC assets.
As required, identify cyber vulnerabilities associated with data use on Air Reserve Command (ARC) weapons systems and requirements to protect data, detect and identify attacks, counter penetrations, and restore system capabilities.
Support Space and Missile System Center (SMC) Space and Missile Space EW (SMC/SPJ) System Program Office (SPO) work with satellite communications (SATCOM) to accomplish space electronic warfare (EW) and electronic attack (EA) missions.
Assist and provide expertise with System Acquisition Planning and Management, Systems Interoperability Assessment, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Implementation, Logistics Management and Planning Tools, Sustainment Management Planning, Integrated Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Test Planning, and Affordability and Life Cycle Cost Analysis.
The employee will author test plans and reports which examine key components such as technical orders, tools/support equipment, training, and manning when evaluating programs under test to ensure ability to be used in an operational environment common to Air Force
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in the field of aerospace sciences or equivalent experience. In lieu of degree, 12+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience including 3 years of leadership roles.
Research skills that once defining the problem and establishing a formal requirement, begin the solution phase of any project by researching available product solutions to include existing and new technology.
Must be familiar with the Air Force logistics system
Knowledge of the annual ANG Weapons System Modernization Priorities Book, and Air Force
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have knowledge of the military maintenance organizational structure and operational functionality of aircraft maintenance.
Must have knowledge of the aircraft organizational structure and operational functionality of Mission Generation (MG) functions.
Must have experience in technical writing.
