Position Description

Design, develop and maintain reliable test equipment to meet internal and external testing needs. Maintain documentation for proper/safe use of test equipment and test equipment capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement engineering principles to safely achieve and maintain customer requested test conditions for various test articles with new or current test equipment.

• Develop specialized skills unique to specific test equipment to understand its operation (temperature/pressure/flow instrumentation, data acquisition…)

• Analyze infrastructure capabilities vs. test equipment needs

• Troubleshoot test equipment when equipment unable to achieve desired inputs or outputs. Request quotes and justify repairs, than make arrangements to implement and

• document repairs.

• Generate and maintain test equipment preventive maintenance documentation

• Maintain test equipment for efficient use of utilities (natural gas, water, compressed air,electrical…)

• Research, justify and implement new products and technology

• Establish calibration needs for test equipment, approve calibration certificates

• Design & develop new data manipulation and reporting procedures that meet quality and customer needs

• Approve test reports (confirm accuracy, test conditions…) after testing completed

• Standardize test set ups and instrumentation procedures

• Responsible for the training of technicians and other engineers as assigned

Required Education & Qualifications

• College graduate in engineering or related technical discipline with 2 - 7 years engineering experience, or a masters degree in engineering, a related technical discipline, or business, with 1 - 3 years engineering experience, or 7 - 15 years equivalent experience in the specified engineering discipline

• Works in conjunction with experienced test engineers and participates in assignments for exposure and practical application of theory in work situations.

• Coordinate authority for expenditures (AFEs), keep projects on budget and on time

• Understand and apply engineering principles of test equipment associated with project work

• Effectively supports quality document creation and maintenance (Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Nonconformance Corrective Action Reports (NCARs), Work Instructions (WI)…)

• Complete assignments with the support and as assigned by experienced test engineers

• Use experience to effectively develop and achieve suitable target dates and budgets for projects

• Take initiative to evaluate new methods to improve efficiency

• Support multiple projects while maintaining daily activities and administration requirements, effectively sets target dates and controls schedule to achieve target dates

• Utilizes practical experience gained from past assignments to solve problems

• Provide support and training of less experienced test engineers
