General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Test Engineer / Business Process Analyst to join our team providing support to the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHPS). GDIT, in conjunction with our partners, delivers technical and management support services for CDC NIOSH with the implementation of the WTC Act.

In this role, you will conduct manual ad hoc testing and analytical testing, developing the test plans, complex test cases and thoroughly evaluating the system to analyze upstream and downstream effects. Working alongside our technical team, you will be part of a team of 5 other Business Process Analysts / Testers. This position offers the opportunity for a flexible schedule, working primarily from home and going into our Falls Church, VA office 1- 2 times a week.

Essential Job Functions

  • Plans and designs complex business solutions and system modifications. Makes recommendations to improve and support business activities.

  • Participates in testing, troubleshooting and analysis on the development of systems.

  • Conducts manual ad hoc testing / analytical testing, developing the testing approach, reviewing with senior leadership and then conduct testing to analyze upstream and downstream effects.

  • Creates test plan for every new release and/or bug fix; and creates complex test case scenarios to be used in testing

  • Conducts various types of testing such as regression, technical, functional and backend testing of the SQL database

  • Provides support in the development, implementation and maintenance of test processes and diagnostic programs.

  • Conducts/monitors/oversees the testing of business applications to verify that all client requirements are incorporated into the system design.

  • Uses SQL language for SQL Server Management Studio and MS Access to formulate queries; utilizing a good understanding of databases and SDLC.

  • Analyzes business and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified business information processing systems.

  • Gathers business requirements through a variety of techniques such as work sessions and interviews; which includes coordinating, facilitating, and leading meetings with clients to explore potential solutions.

  • Analyzes and documents complex business requirements and processes in a technical format; communicates these requirements to appropriate parties (mainly the development team and the business owners).

  • Coordinates with business and technology teams ascertaining system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, execution of users acceptance and coordinate testing, system techniques, and controls.

  • Provides input into developing and modifying systems to meet client needs. Develops business specifications to support these modifications.

  • Participates in technical reviews and inspections to verify 'intent of change' is carried through the entire project.

  • Provides time estimates for project related tasks.

  • Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.

  • Position requires writing technical documents (including requirements) periodically.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years related experience, or comparable combination of education and experience

  • Proficient in SQL language for SQL Server Management Studio and ability to use MS Access to formulate queries.

  • Experience with software testing creating manual test plans, writing test cases, and conducting manual tests

  • Good understanding of databases and SDLC.

  • Exposure to writing technical documentation for software requirements and testing

  • Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes, and workflows

  • Requires U.S. citizenship for CDC agency specific clearance.

  • Experience conducting requirements gathering and authoring technical documentation

  • Strong English communication skills (written and oral).
