External Description: JOB SUMMARY:

Extensive operation of ORV test vehicles to validate performance and durability. Provide feedback and data to the product development team and perform vehicle maintenance, part installation, and repairs as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Operate Polaris recreational vehicles for extended periods of time to validate performance and durability

.2.Follow prescribed duty cycle to ensure thorough and consistent testing.
3.Utilize data loggers to capture vehicle information.
4.Perform maintenance, repairs, & update parts on test vehicles.
5.Write daily logs reporting operating conditions, duty cycle, performance, vehicle failures, and status of test parts.
6.Perform tasks outlined in test requests and report results.
7.Analyze test results and make recommendations for change.
8.Must be willing to accept assignment changes and maintain a positive attitude toward change.
9.Follow safe riding practices and ensure others do the same.
10.Maintain a clean, safe work area and meet OSHA requirements.
11.Willing to take test trips for extended periods.
12.Maintain strict confidentiality.
13.Performs other assignments as requested.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
1.High school diploma required
2.2-Year degree in technical field preferred
3.Basic computer skills required
4.Valid drivers license required
5.Powersports experience required
6.Must be capable of operating ORVs in extreme conditions for extended periods of time
7.Must be capable of driving trucks with trailers (<26>8.Must be capable of operating fork lifts
9.Strong mechanical aptitude
10.Data acquisition & diagnostic tool experience preferred
11.Fabrication & welding preferred
12.Minimum 3 years mechanic or technician experience preferred

This includes supporting KPC setting for the vehicle, ensuring the architecture supports delivering the KPC and Level 2 Specifications, and supporting the necessary technical tradeoffs through development of the project. Job Summary: * Engineering position with growth potential for high-achieving, highly motivated individual. The Vehicle Architecture team is developing the next generation of Polaris ORV's and new concepts and innovation ideas. * Establishment of all specifications and KPC's for the vehicle: interior/occupant package targets (including driver accommodation, roominess, exterior visibility, ease of ingress & egress, interior stowage and cargo space), and overall vehicle mechanical package targets (including exterior dimensions, wheel and tire sizing and clearances, suspension, driveline integration and definition, ground clearance) * Develop and communication the technology plan for the vehicle platform and sub systems technology insertion plan. * Communication of targets by developing and cascading 3D CAD zones, and working with the ID and component engineers as the vehicle design progresses to ensure targets are met. Applies System Engineering discipline to develop system and subsystem targets. * Lead technical resolution of cross functional issues in the early phase to ensure the correct balance of customer requirements and business needs. Ensures design integration and geometric compatibility with mechanical and occupant package objectives * Identification of vehicle package target and geometric compatibility issues, and development of solution alternatives considering trade-offs (quality, function, weight, cost, assembly feasibility, etc.) * Analysis of customer satisfaction and quality data for internal and competitive products. Takes a proactive, leadership role by acting as a customer advocate and technical 'referee' for cross functional attribute, design and vehicle packaging efforts * Benchmarking of competitive vehicles * Performs and/or coordinates packaging trade studies to meet or define vehicle integration requirements * Interacts effectively across the organization: program management, customers, component engineering, design, manufacturing, and senior management.
