This is an exciting opportunity in Indianapolis, Indiana for an Engineering Test Cell Technician Intern.

Summary:

As an Engineering Test Cell Technician Intern, you will be involved in various aspects of the test cell operations. Your key learning and development areas include transmission test set-up, execution, data collection and analysis. You will work closely with the assigned supervisor and complete a specific engineering project during the assignment. You will work daily in a state-of-the-art transmission testing facility. As an intern with Allison Transmission, Inc., you will be required to commit to a minimum of 10-weeks per assignment.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain exposure to various developmental activities in order to actively participate in product improvement activities.

  • Participate in transmission calibration and integration of the transmission within the engine and vehicle system.

  • Work cross-functionally with departments to improve product testing and drive product development.

  • Contribute to the development of specifications, analyzing data, summarizing and reporting results, maintaining records, and understanding technical writing.

  • Learn to set-up and operate test devices and measurement tools.

  • Present project results to management staff along with technical analysis of activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement:

  • College undergraduate or graduate status with 1-3 years at an accredited college or university, pursing a degree in Engineering Technology or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

. Required:

  • No experience requirement current enrollment in a 4-year engineering technology program

  • Strong desire for hands-on mechanical work in a prototype shop setting

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well in a business setting and across functional areas

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Basic mechanical aptitude

Preferred:

  • Statistical training

  • Programming and C-based languages

  • US Person*
  • Due to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Intern with Allison Transmission, Inc. must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident.

This is an excellent opportunity in Indianapolis, Indiana for an Electronics Laboratory Technician Intern for the summer of 2019. Internship Summary: Electronics Lab Technician Intern will receive hands-on experience diagnosing electronic systems in transmission test cells to include data collection and test item integration. You will also get the opportunity to learn about and use DVM, scopes and soldering intricate circuits. Attention will be placed on helping you identify compliance, calibration, and specification issues with an eye for technical accuracy and thoroughness. As a student intern, you will work closely with your supervisor and the engineering teams to prepare and communicate test data for analysis and reporting. You will be required to complete a 10-week assignment. Key Learning Areas: * Learn the maintenance of complex data acquisition systems and electronic instrumentation including a working knowledge of personal computers. * Perform simple to intermediate-level calibrations, troubleshooting techniques and diagnosis for various test equipment. * Learn the process to execute test bench and/or test cell setup, including instrumentation and hardware installation. * Work with the engineering team members for test article integration in vehicle and cells. * Gain an understanding of safety policies and initiatives that take place in a test laboratory environment. * Work closely with experienced technicians in order to interpret written and verbal requests. * Demonstrate learning of key areas to manager(s) and the Product Engineering Staff through a formal end-of-assignment presentation. Education Required: Pursuing an Associate's degree Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or equivalent experience Education Preferred: Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or related field Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required: * No experience requirement with active enrollment in an engineering technician program * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings * Basic mechanical aptitude * Strong desire to work in electrical test laboratory in a manufacturing setting * Ability to work around diesel and gasoline engines Preferred: * Basic knowledge of transmission and systems * Some programming knowledge * Experience in an engineering or research and development environment Equal Opportunity Statement: Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
