Title: Test Automation Specialist

Location: Chicago, IL

Engagement: Contract-to-Hire

Duties:

  • Identify and recommend functional test automation tools to be used to meet client requirements

  • Install, configure, and implement functional test automation tools in a web /cloud or N-Tiered application environment for custom developed or packaged software applications and systems

  • Define Functional Test Automation requirements by working with key business and IT users and project stakeholders

  • Identify and receive approval for Functional Test Automation conditions by working with key business and IT users and project stakeholders Create Functional Test Automation scripts and gain approval from key business and IT users and project stakeholders, utilize latest scripting techniques including data parameterization and correlation

  • Arrange functional test automation execution test cycles and schedule timeframes with key business and IT resources to monitor, witness and support the functional test automation results

  • Analyze results and publish meaningful, pragmatic functional test automation metrics and results (including defects) for action by the application and infrastructure owners for remediation and repair

  • Coordinate with Core Application Development, Business Unit, Database, Middleware, and Operations teams to identify functional improvement areas, and promote resolution of issues as a result of the testing process

  • Able to guide and mentor more junior team members

Required Skills:

  • 3-5 years of working knowledge and implementations of at least 2 of the following functional test automation tool sets: HP Unified Functional Testing (UFT), Quick Test Professional (QTP) or WinRunner, IBM Rational Functional Tester, SOASTA CloudTest, Perfecto Mobile, Ranorex, JAMO Solutions, Selenium, Appium, ZAPFix, Microsoft Visual Studio (formerly VSTS) with Coded UI, Test Anywhere, or comparable packaged or open source functional test automation tools.
  • 4 year degree from university or college; or equivalent knowledge and experience.

VIEW JOBS 1/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-18T00:00 Job Details: Summary The Senior Test Automation Engineer is responsible for gaining a thorough understanding of the new system to be tested. This individual must learn both the technical side of the system as well as understand what the business user expects. The Senior analyst will create automated test scripts, use cases, test cases, test plans, create test data and define the expected result. During daily scrum meetings and collaborations meetings the Senior analyst will collaborate and communicate around the above artifacts with team members, other technical teams and users, to ensure accuracy and transparency prior to test execution. The Senior analyst will document test results and report status on the systems stability. The Senior analyst will be able to work with the Lead and manager to diagnose and absorb new projects, and evaluate the designed system, the requirements and other key approaches to develop a comprehensive test approach. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. * Works in an Agile team throughout the Lifecycle to collaborate on the analysis, design, development & testing * Actively participates in Sprint planning sessions to create stories with robust acceptance criteria while helping identify missing or incomplete requirements * Actively participates in design/technical reviews to identify missing, incomplete or inaccurate design assumptions or design choices. * Creates and Executes automated scripts for regression, integration, and functional testing on newly designed or modified applications/systems. * Thoroughly analyzes, tests, and documents software quality to ensure proper implementation. * Clearly articulates verbally and in writing the specifics around defects * Monitors and updates defect reports as needed to ensure timely problem resolution. * Independently follows up with design/development resources regarding defects. * Follows agreed upon implementation of agile philosophies to ensure that all information system products and services meet: both explicit and implicit quality standards, end-user functional requirements, architectural standards, performance requirements, audit requirements, security rules are upheld, and external facing reporting is properly represented. * Performs application and project risk analysis and recommends quality improvements. * Assists Production Support by testing time sensitive defects and providing advice on system functionality. * Communicates in a clear and concise manner all time delays or defects in the software immediately to appropriate team members and management * Mentor and coach team members and new team members * Champions test automation and testing best practice * Evaluate solution to design, script and execute Performance (Load, Stress etc..) tests Qualifications: The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary functions. * Broad based knowledge of the lifecycle development, change control management, test planning management * Deeply analytical skills, with ability to display methods of testing highly sophisticated systems, progressively diagnose systems defects, and clearly communicate to project constituents, key findings and learnings. * Strong communication skills, written and oral, analytical abilities, sound judgement and time management skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients (users), management and staff. * Highly motivated self-starter with creative problem solving skills. * Able to meet aggressive deadlines efficiently and effectively. * Able to handle multiple project tasks simultaneously. Technical Skills: * Automated Testing Tool experience * Automated RESTFUL Web services testing * Database experience (i.e. Informix, Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle and DB2). * Java, J-units, and Python coding required * Perl and Unix shell scripting a plus * Big Data Experience a plus Education and/or Experience: * 10 years' experience in leading QA efforts. 2+ years' experience as a Automation Engineer * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience. * Mastery of QA concepts, principles and requirements is a must. * Requires experience developing test cases / scenarios using structured test methods. * Financial Industry experience in trading and Risk management preferred Certificates or Licenses: * Any QA certifications are a plus. * JCP / Python certification a plus * Agile certifications a plus Step 1 When you find a position you're interested in, click the 'Apply' button.
