The primary responsibilities of the Life Sciences Territory Underwriting Manager ("TUM") include:
Accountable for profit, revenue growth and compliance for assigned portfolio for assigned territories
Managing and monitoring of new and renewal accounts as assigned
Handling referrals utilizing home office level underwriting authority in collaboration with Industry Practice Leader and Property and Casualty LoB Managers.
Accountable for developing recommendations and implementing strategies for LS business recognizing and supporting the unique needs of commercial insurance and major accounts. Execution using both retail and surplus lines products as appropriate.
May include the management of a select group of local branch producers, and/or large accounts within the territory.
Exercising deep expertise for industry practice or line of business throughout the field resulting in achievement of business goals
Building technical knowledge of field staff
Relationship building with key agents and insureds
Effectively developing, marketing and supporting industry micro segments and/or products in assigned territory
Development of strategic and tactical plans to cater directly to the Life Sciences Industry and support of field implementation and execution.
Articulating ideas and shaping underwriting strategies, new product and industry practice development for implementation with focus on property lines of business.
Working in a team environment with Home Office Life Sciences, Industry Practice and Line of Business managers, Claims, Operations, GC, Regulatory Affairs and the field.
Making recommendations on underwriting authority of field staff as well as identifying future specialists.
Through effective leadership and coaching, enhancing field capabilities and reputation in the industry
Such projects for the LSIP or for CI as authorized by the Industry Practice Leader.
Position requires extensive travel (25%+ of time) throughout the USA.
