As a Territory Manager, you are responsible to deliver specific sales and service provision targets in line with Regional, Zone and National targets, develop and manage the Territory base and provide information and market data to ensure effective delivery of the overall business targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve annual sales plans for sales growth and key sales objectives while managing costs, receivables and expenses within required targets.

  • Develop an understanding within our customer base, specifically within collision centers and auto body accounts, and the regional team of the benefits and advantages of business programs offered by PPG Refinish.

  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of body shop operations and be able to influence customers at the end user and influencer level to support achievement of strategic goals with end users, influencers, and OE's and insurance companies.

  • Develop and utilize an industry network to ensure all opportunities to broaden and develop business opportunities for the PPG group are maximized.

  • Build knowledge through active participation and learning from Regional team members and pass on skill and knowledge to new and less experienced team members.

  • Actively communicate market and competitor knowledge to the appropriate members of the sales programs or marketing teams so the trends, opportunities and threats can be identified and quickly acted upon.

  • Manage all activities in compliance with PPG EHS goals, quality, business conduct and code of ethics policies.

  • Major marketing area for this territory is Southern Iowa.

  • Must have the ability to travel frequently.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Management OR equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 5 years proven track record in growing sales with proven skills at consultative selling.

  • Prior Automotive Refinish or related experience preferred.

  • Must have exceptional listening and interpersonal skills.

  • Functional and Technical Skills

Functional & Technical Skills:

  • Ability to operate and communicate effectively with all customers from senior management through to body shop technicians.

  • Financial analysis skills, ability to understand balance sheets and business management propositions.

  • Excellent communications skills - in writing, IT presentations, public speaking and one-to-one negotiations.

  • Strong personal motivation, willingness to learn and adapt to different business priorities.

  • Clean driving record.

  • Travel predominantly within defined territory.

Our team is currently looking for a Territory Manager who will be responsible for growing the overall customer base by prospecting for new customers, focusing on Independent Hardware Retailers and Pro Dealer Retailers in IL, MO & IA. Once retailers are activated, the Territory Manager will work with the customer to increase total sales volume within a defined geographic territory. The Territory Manager is focused on gaining profitable sales through weekly warehouse orders, convention sales opportunities, dropship programs, and selling other promotional programs. They will analyze each retailer and develop specific customer strategies based on customer needs, all while providing solutions that meet Emery Jensen Distribution objectives. The role will execute the identified strategic initiatives and focus objectives for the field sales organization. The Territory Manager manages the customer relationship and will be the liaison between the customer and Emery Jensen Distribution. As necessary, the Territory Manager may be required to attend industry related trade shows, such as, but not limited, to The National Hardware Show, The IGC Show and other industry related events. What you'll do * Deliver annual sales and profit objectives by developing a strategic sales plan that engages retailers and will increase the Emery Jensen Distribution customer base within a defined geographic territory. * Represent Emery Jensen Distribution both professionally and ethically in all day to day activities. * Develop and foster strong business relationships with key decision makers to grow the overall Emery Jensen Distribution business. * Organize and prioritize weekly customer sales routes and calls to meet Emery Jensen Distribution goals and objectives. * Effectively communicate with the Emery Jensen Leadership Team with both successes as well as challenges to gain insight and support in achieving Emery Jensen Distribution goals and objectives. * Effectively communicate with the internal Sales Support Team, the Care Center and other internal business partners to resolve customer issues and questions in a timely manner. * Collaborate and communicate with Emery Jensen Distribution team members to share ideas and sales successes to help in achieving goals and objectives. * Displays sound judgement in relation to expenses (travel and entertainment, car, etc.). What you need to succeed * Personally motivated self‐starter and results oriented individual focused on solutions based on customer's needs. * 5‐ years of Business to Business sales experience preferred. * Hardware sales experience a plus. * Excellent listening and negotiating skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong strategic thinking abilities with an emphasis on developing a sales growth plan and the ability to insure implementation. * Proven ability to manage multiple projects and opportunities. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint. * Extensive travel required including overnight travel (Territory includes IL, MO and IA). * Valid driver's license required. * BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred.
