Lexicon Pharmaceuticals is currently searching for an entrepreneurial, highly motivated, results focused Territory Business Manager for our Washington, DC territory. In this role, you will deliver sales results to support our XERMELO product. This position will report to our Regional Business Leader, East. The successful incumbent will have a direct impact on the execution of our brand strategy and demonstrating our commercial values of keeping the patient at center, collaboration, relentless pursuit of excellence and trust in all we do.

This position will live in the Washington, DC territory.

Job Summary:

This position will act as an integral member of our Commercial Sales team by delivering sales results for our key Oncology product, XERMELO (telotristat ethyl).

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • This direct customer facing role will be responsible for executing our brand and sales strategy to effectively demonstrate our product value to key customers

  • Utilizing knowledge and expertise of local market trends, institutions, and key customers to optimize our national strategy to drive business results at the territory level

  • Utilizing internal resources, such as market data and analysis to shape territory business plans in order to drive business results and impact patients

  • Responsible for using our internal systems to work through call planning and record call activity

  • Identifying and seizing opportunities to build organizational efficiency and process improvements to positively impact business results

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

  • Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Minimum of 5 (five) years of Pharma sales experience, preferably with 3 (three) years' experience in a Specialty Care, Hospital or Rare Disease area

  • Proven track record of sales results, commitment to performance excellence

  • Ability to develop strategic long-term relationships with customers aimed at helping patients and achieving business results

  • Strong alignment to our corporate values of patient at center, collaboration, relentless pursuit of excellence and trust in all we do

Oncology Specialty Consultant - Washington DC Territory YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role, Oncology Specialty Consultant -- Washington DC, are to: * Be able to demonstrate a mastery of product clinical efficacy, and articulate a strong value proposition for the customer; * Be able to learn and retain in-depth mastery of clinical knowledge for numerous tumor types, with the goal of educating healthcare professionals on the importance of diagnosing TRK fusion genetic mutations in tumors; * Mastery of clinical and technical knowledge related to oncology; * diagnostic testing (e.g., immunohistochemistry (IHC) and next generation sequencing (NGS)) and how it fits in the treatment paradigm of TRK fusion tumors; * Target, develop, assess and maintain a thorough understanding of accounts and key customers while maintaining a high-level stakeholder position; * Utilize strategic thought process in developing and maintaining key customer database; * Mastery of key account management, best practices and selling skills development; * Liaise with other Bayer personnel to provide patient and reimbursement support while exceeding sales goal; * Develop exceptionally well-designed business plans aligned to brand strategic imperatives with resource allocations that link to strong business results; * Demonstrate a mastery of knowledge and analysis of business, products, technical issues, and the changing market landscape; * Be extremely patient focused with the ability to build and foster a strong, positive relationship with the healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders that treat these patients; * Exemplify strong collaboration and team work skills with internal and external stakeholders; * Have an institutional sales approach and be able to develop a long-term plan to activate an account (i.e., get buy in for and uptake of TRK testing) via the various gatekeepers/influencers and opportunistically pull-through demand generation efforts with prescribers; * Adhere to company and compliance guidelines, policy and procedures. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree with at least five years of pharmaceutical, biotech, medical, dental or diagnostic selling experience; * Excellent negotiation skills; * Valid driver's license and clean driving record; * Ability to travel as necessary or required, which may include overnight and/or weekend travel; * Excellent written and oral communication skills; * Strong cross functional collaboration skills; * Passionate and self-motivated individual.
