Seeking a strong, developing sales professional looking to join a well-established sales team in the decorative hardware industry. The role is part of an expanded service model in the lumberyard, millwork and door shop channel for Baldwin Hardware. Responsibilities will include a heavy focus on business development as well as maintaining and growing existing customers, both direct and indirect. Daily activity will center around development (prospecting, sampling, promotion) and service (displays, training, quoting), with majority of time spent traveling in the territory.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
(70%) Drive Sales Through Development
Actively introduce, manage and grow a target list of lumberyard, millwork and door shop customers in a well-defined territory.
Begin to identify and prioritize top opportunities and develop call cycle to service and maintain both establish and prospective business.
Strong focus on product knowledge for category specific product offering to facilitate in store customer training as major portion of development.
Grow and gain understanding of the competitive landscape and the value propositions between brands.
(20%) Relationship Development
Create deeper connections as larger opportunity customers come into view with both face to face and virtual interaction on a regular basis.
Determine decision makers in individual locations and identify needs at the store level.
Quick and urgent follow up to questions, quote requests and issues.
Understand each customer's needs to provide real, effective solutions.
Potential requirements for additional travel to team meetings, regional shows and customer events.
(10%) Business Management
Maintain service levels for entire territory including returns, quotes, credits, etc.
Manage expense and promotion budget within company requirement on a regular basis.
Participate in all initiatives driven by the organization to maintain business rhythm in all aspects of the territory.
Education and Experience Profile
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field preferred, or relevant years of experience.
2+ years sales experience is preferred
Prior retail / lumberyard experience is preferred
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Powerpoint, Word, Excel)
Demonstrated interpersonal & customer centric orientation
Physical requirement - Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs+
