Position Summary:

Responsible for sales results for assigned book of primarily high-touch accounts with medium to large sales and potential. Territory account managers grow sales and profitability by penetrating across all categories of products and by monitoring and increasing Staples presence across all customer sites in a defined territory. Territory Account Managers are also responsible for mapping decision-makers and sites, identifying both core and specialty category purchases, and requesting specialists to better support customers when needed (E.g. when an expert decision maker is involved).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling: Individual will be responsible for setting their own schedule and maintaining calendar of appointments with customers.

  • Negotiating: Individual will oversee pricing negotiations for specific sales opportunities will need to coordinate the bid and quote process and make discretionary pricing decisions based on their knowledge of the account and assessment of future spend potential.

  • Strategic Planning: Individual will be responsible for targeting which customers to pursue and when; they will be given a list of accounts and will prioritize based on their own knowledge and understanding of the business.

Qualifications

Basic:

  • High School Diploma/GED required

  • 1-3 years successful sales experience or completion of the Sales Apprentice Program

  • Experience and proven track record of managing programs or business development

  • Solid knowledge of Office Supplies including: facility and breakroom, technology products, business furniture, print and promotional products

  • Ability to interface at customer's most senior levels

  • Strong ability to develop and deliver presentations

  • Consultative selling, solutions selling, insight selling, negotiation and advanced client management skills

  • Ability to set targets, design growth plans and work with product category sales team members

  • Strong business, financial, operations and technology acumen

  • Ability to analyze customer data, business and industry trends to create tailored solutions for customers based upon Staples value proposition

  • Ability to function independently with minimal daily supervision

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Key Responsibilities: * Full-time position averaging 45-50 hours/week. * Overall management responsibility for the execution and operational excellence of the entire store. * Management responsibility for Softlines Sales and actively participates in the personnel decisions of team members, including, but not limited to, employee selection, training, discipline, termination and development. * Provides departmental direction to the Softlines Sales team and daily supervisory oversight to Team Leads and team members to ensure that exceptional customer service is the priority of interaction with customers. * Develops and implements strategy for achieving weekly and monthly operational goals and completing tasks assigned to the store. This includes the development, analysis and implementation of the sales, staffing, training, payroll hours and scheduling of team members. * Manages workforce productivity, efficiency and process improvement projects and initiatives. * Responsible for holding team members accountable for compliance with established sales, safety and security practices and procedures in conjunction with local, state and federal regulations. * Ensures the completion of departmental zoning and adherence to department, store and Company standards. * Responsible for supervising the execution of various assignments as delegated by the Store Director in Playbook. * Actively participates in floor walks with Regional Vice President, District Manager, and Store Director and creates an implementation plan to make changes based on feedback provided in store walks. * Audits firearm sales in compliance with federal and state law, including properly completing ATF Form 4473 and conducting background checks, and signs off as final approver. * Required to complete Firearms Sales Certification training. * Successful completion of Academy Leadership University. * Provides supervisory oversight to the team member talent lifecycle including hiring, onboarding, developing and coaching team members. * Required to learn, understand and enforce company policies, procedures and safety rules. * Adheres to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules applicable to management-level employees. * Duties may change and Softlines Sales Manager may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
