Summary:

Performs duties as outlined by the Terminal Manager related to the receipt and shipment of petroleum products via pipeline and truck. Conducts maintenance and accounting responsibilities in accordance with established company and governmental regulations. Assists in the operations, maintenance, safety and environmental matters in the temporary absence of the Terminal Manager.

Rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

  • Answers and responds to after-hour calls (24-hours per day / 7-days per week).

  • Assumes responsibility for filter changes and all valve alignments (manifolds and tanks) inside the terminal property to assure the proper handling, storage and integrity of products.

  • Uses the Terminal Automation System to prepare daily inventory reports, terminal balance report, and rack activity report.

  • Forwards daily inventory and accounting reports to the appropriate customers.

  • Ensures that customers receive information needed regarding their throughput and inventory.

  • Samples and analyzes product as instructed by the Terminal Manager.

  • Keeps loading rack equipment (mechanical and electrical) clean and in good working order at all times.

  • Interacts with drivers to make sure they follow all company and safety regulations.

  • Trains new drivers and make sure they are familiar with our automation, loading equipment and emergency features.

  • Conducts safety watches with outside contractors as advised by the Terminal Manager.

  • Ensures all environmental and safety equipment is working properly.

  • Keeps overall appearance of terminal up and grass mowed and edged.

  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations. Reduces potential risk to public safety and environment and minimizes company liability.

  • Improves operations efficiency and financial profitability through well maintained facilities.

Required Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; one year experience in terminal operations preferred

Required Qualifications:

  • Safety training and hazard training preferred

  • Spill response training for pipeline and rack area preferred.

  • Fire training preferred

  • 12 hour shift

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft products

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to independently proof work for accuracy

  • Expected to exercise good judgment

  • Initiative and organization abilities required for meeting deadlines and establishing priorities

  • Expected to maintain good working relationships with all Company personnel, customers and contract personnel

  • Ability to manage time and scheduling to meet appropriate deadlines

  • Ability to work successfully in stressful situations and manage multiple tasks

  • Ability to use awareness of relationships and impacts of data trends and elements to appropriately recommend actions that impact both near and long-term company operations and profits

  • Ability to independently conduct job accountabilities with limited supervision

  • Ability to take directions from supervisors

  • Is a self-starter and willing to adapt to changing conditions

Working Conditions and Requirements:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Climbing at least 60 feet on stairs at least a few times per week.

  • Climbing at least 7 to 11 feet on ladders or scaffolding at least a few times per month.

  • Lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. at least a few times a week, with the expectations that an employee can lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance, when needed.

  • Carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. for up to 50 feet on a weekly basis.

  • Walking 100 yards or more over 10 times throughout the day, with the expectations that employees could walk regularly up to 300 yards at a time for a total of 2 miles or more during a shift.

  • Walking on steep inclines for up to 15 minutes at a time.

  • Working in a crouching position several times per day for up to an hour at a time.

  • Bending and stooping several times per day for up to 30 minutes at a time.

  • Bending and twisting for up to 30 minutes at a time, including manually digging with shovels.

  • Standing in one place for up to an hour at a time.

  • Sitting for up to two hours at a time.

  • Ability to wear all appropriate personal protection equipment, such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, flame-resistant clothing, hearing protection, respirator/breathing apparatus, and/or fall protection, as required by the job activities.

  • Ability to use or operate the hand tools, power tools, precision tools, measurement devices and other tools or equipment required by the job activities.
