Effectively manage operational functions of all facets of a service center/terminal. Assist the Division Vice President in the achievement of operational goals, growth and profitability. Develop new talent to fill job opportunities of the future.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Manage, direct, and lead all functions within a terminal. This includes but is not limited to: Dock Operations, City Pick Up and Delivery, Line Haul Operations, Safety, and Worker's Compensation, Customer Service, OS& D and Sales. Primary areas of emphasis will include: productivity, service, load average, claims and consumer satisfaction.
Direct responsibility and accountability for implementing and maintaining Best Practices processes
Implement and maintain cost control policies through proper staffing, training, and supervision of employees.
Ensure that a safe working environment is provided for all employees.
Create an atmosphere of trust and teamwork that values the contributions of all employees in support of a high performance culture. This includes managing employee development as part of the Partnering for Performance and Growth Process.
Lead efforts and special project teams as directed to increase revenue growth and profitability.
Improve employee relations through the effective use of Performance Management techniques.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience with a Bachelor's degree in Transportation or Business preferred.
Significant experience in transportation management along with a thorough, demonstrated, understanding of terminal operations.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills in addition to a proven track record of success.
Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, direct and lead multiple tasks at once.
Knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance procedures preferred.
PC Proficiency and a complete understanding of mainframe applications.
A willingness to work long hours and variable shifts as required.
3 years successful operations leadership experience.
Knowledge of company policy, procedures and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
