Position Overview: The Terminal Manager supervises the day-to-day operations to include dispatching, directing employees and ensuring that the transportation network functions properly at their respective terminals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide direction and supervision to dispatchers, customer service representatives and brokers by delegating workload, measuring performance, and maintaining appropriate staff levels through recruitment, selection, and retention activities

  • Coordinate fleet dispatch needs.

  • Ensure truck and trailers are serviced when required.

  • Maintain relationships with regional fleet managers.

  • Manage high-level customer accounts that require significant level of operational attention.

  • Promote and execute all company safety policies.

  • Manage company equipment pools.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction and high service levels.

  • Measure individual driver performance including revenue, dead head percentage, routing and CSA scores.

  • Assist with the routing of drivers.

  • Perform yard checks to ensure trailers are entered correctly into the system.

  • Support driver retention best practices within day-to-day dispatch operations.

  • Support risk control and cost control.

  • Fill in on planning and driver advocate duties when necessary.

  • Responsible for recruiting and retention of owner operators and company drivers

  • Daily review and management of Perdiem, rail storage, & chassis usage

  • Responsible for the P&L of the terminal

  • Managing reports for billing chassis usage and per diem

  • Growing terminal customer base and driver count

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Sound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detail.

  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills, well-developed verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work both as an individual contributor and a team member.

  • The ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and meet assigned deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as to accept direction on given assignments.

  • Industry knowledge

  • Ability to lead a team and grow a terminal from the ground floor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of United Tote equipment. * Repair, maintenance and cleaning of the betting terminals. * Equipment installation and tear down. * Labeling, packaging, shipping and re-ordering of spare parts. * Unloading and loading of equipment on company or freight trucks. * Maintenance and repair of the infield or auxiliary display boards. * Perform minor repairs on terminal components, test components, correctly package components for shipment and order replacement components. * Train new Technicians * Develop wiring and soldering skills. * Understand how the terminals communicate with the Tote system. * Develop an understanding of the different wagers offered and be able to answer questions relating to the different wagers. * Other duties as assigned. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Familiarity with the United Tote communications equipment, Tote Board installation and operation is desired. Must be able to interact with association personnel and patrons in a professional and efficient manner. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of High School Diploma or GED. Familiarity with pari-mutuel betting is desired. Race track experience and electrical and/or computer experience is preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, able to be licensed by state racing commission, able to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
