UAS Sitka Campus is seeking an experienced, self-motivated and collaborative professional to instruct and assist with managing the Welding Program. We're looking for a skilled individual, who likes teaching and works well with students (adult and dual enrollment), faculty, support staff, and industry partners.

Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students, professional experience in the welding field, and ability to work as a team player.

Ability to teach vocation theory and skills to welding students.

Practical and theoretical knowledge of commonly used welding skills.

Skills equivalent to a certified welder in GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, oxygen-acetylene including fabrication skills using various welding methods.

Ability to create a productive academic environment for faculty, staff, and students.

Willingness to work at variable times/days.

Minimum Qualifications:

AAS in Welding or a combination of education and experience w/current relevant certifications. A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

At least five years of experience in the welding, diesel or other industrial field with increasing levels of responsibilities.

Formal training leading to welding certificates or equivalent on-the-job training in GMAW, GTAW, SMAW and oxy-acetylene welding/cutting.

Ability to teach to American Welding Society (AWS) standards.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Southeast campus in Sitka. This is a full-time, 9-month, represented term faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
