The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for two full-time tenure-track positions with a 9-month academic appointment beginning fall 2020. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of assistant, associate, and full professor levels depending on qualifications.

Candidates are being sought in the areas of theory, systems, software, human-centered computing, data science, artificial intelligence, robotics, and computer science education. Exceptional candidates in other areas are also encouraged to apply.

The successful applicants will be required to teach; advise and mentor graduate students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department's activities; and serve the profession.

Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M is currently one of 14 departments in the College of Engineering. Many of the 47 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 15 teaching-focused faculty hold a number of national distinctions, including ACM, IEEE, AAAS, and SIAM Fellows, and ACM Distinguished Scientists and Engineers.

The department has a strong and vibrant research program with half the faculty having received NSF CAREER/NYI/PYI awards. Our student population is comprised of over 1,200 undergraduate students (sophomore to senior level) and nearly 400 graduate students. Of particular interest are persons with demonstrated experience and skills in academic global programs development and management, instructional enhancement, and clinical engineering. The successful applicant will teach primarily at the undergraduate level in support of the development of the undergraduate programs; advise and mentor undergraduate students; participate in all aspects of the department's activities; and serve the profession. All positions with "professor" titles will have to perform professional service duties in addition to teaching. Instructional professors will specifically contribute to undergraduate curriculum review and enhancement as well as support other faculty in identifying and adopting pedagogical approaches to improve teaching effectiveness. Professors of practice will particularly support practical experiences including design programs, internships, and help build relationships with industry partners. These positions also may contribute to the teaching of regular graduate courses and special-topic seminars. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Applicants must have, at the minimum, an earned bachelor level degree for professor of practice level titles. Candidates for other academic professional track titles must have a masters or doctoral degree in a closely related engineering or science discipline.
