Assistant/Associate Professor in Early Childhood Special Education

The Department of Educational Psychology (EPSY) at Texas A&M University is seeking applications for a tenure- track assistant/associate professor with expertise in early intervention / early childhood special education (EI/ECSE). The allocated time and effort for this 9-month appointment is:

  • 40% Research: The successful candidate will evidence success or strong potential for securing external funding to support programmatic and outreach activities focused on early childhood populations who have or may be at risk for disabilities.
  • 40% Teaching: Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate coursework, and mentorship of graduate students including those preparing for future professorial roles.
  • 20% Service: Service expectations include internal contributions (i.e., department, college, university) and external visibility at state and national/international levels.

Preference will be given to applicants with prior research/outreach activities and teaching experiences targeting preschool aged populations.

Appointment

This is a nine-month tenure-track appointment with an anticipated start no later than fall semester of 2020. Salary is competitive and commensurate with faculty rank and qualifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in special education or closely related field with specialization in early intervention / early childhood special education (EI/ECSE)

  • Research experience in one or more of the following are of particular interest:

  • Designing and implementing interventions with young children with or at risk for disabilities

  • Early childhood teaching, particularly children with disabilities

  • College teaching focused on early intervention and/or ECSE

  • Supporting social-emotional learning in early childhood

  • Success /clear potential for securing extramural funding

  • Evidence of programmatic research and high impact publications

  • Strong commitment to teaching and mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students

  • Commitment to collegiality and collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience mentoring junior faculty and/or graduate students

  • Experience online learning platforms

  • Experience designing and implementing interventions for early childhood populations (including national credentials such as BCBA)

  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research

Expectations

  • In addition to effectively mentoring and supporting junior faculty, this individual will contribute to increasing the SPED program's capacity to attract, support, retain, and prepare doctoral students. This faculty member will contribute to a newly proposed early childhood education credential by providing expertise and training in early childhood special education. There are opportunities for collaboration across the college in a range of complementary disciplines including early literacy, learning sciences, neuroscience, and bilingual education including dual language learners. There will also be opportunities for this faculty member to establish strategic interdisciplinary collaborations associated with the new intergenerational complex and early childhood center that are under development by the Texas A&M University System.

VIEW JOBS 1/17/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-16T00:00 Position Announcement Equine Internal Medicine Faculty Position Department of Veterinary Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX The Department of Veterinary Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time clinical assistant professor, 11-month/year, non-tenure track faculty position in Equine Internal Medicine. Anticipated start date is May-July, 2020. The academic home of this position is the Large Animal Clinical Sciences department at Texas A&M University. The chosen individual will have a major instructional role and will participate heavily in the updated, integrated and highly-experiential DVM pre-clinical curriculum. The successful candidate will utilize innovative techniques and case material as a means of teaching professional students in the three pre-clinical years of the DVM curriculum. The successful candidate will develop well-organized, creative, and interactive lectures and laboratory materials for courses in the pre-clinical professional curriculum. In addition to didactic teaching, the successful candidate will participate in patient care on the Equine Internal Medicine Service (EIMS) and will participate on a rotational basis in after-hours and holiday emergency duties. The EIMS is a 3-doctor team that has a fourth-year student rotation at all times. The successful applicant will have clinical teaching responsibilities which includes fourth-year veterinary students, ACVIM residents, interns, visitors, and technicians. The EIMS provides care for primary cases and secondary and tertiary referral cases. The caseload includes a wide spectrum of horse breeds and occupations. A wide array of equine disorders is managed by this service, including pulmonary, cardiac, gastrointestinal, metabolic, endocrine, urogenital, hepatic, neurologic and muscle disorders. The service also provides intensive management of critical-care cases, neonatal foals, and infectious disorders. Patients include outpatients, in-hospital, urgent-care and emergency care cases. Substantial effort is required for consultative services for other clinical services and referring veterinarians throughout the region. The selected candidate will contribute directly to this service in a collegial, collaborative and team-centered manner to achieve the teaching and patient care missions of the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, while participating collaboratively in research and other scholarly and academic citizenship activities. At TAMU, pre-clinical teaching occurs in the Veterinary & Biomedical Education Complex (VBEC), a 330,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility which opened in August 2016. Located adjacent to the Large Animal Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, VBEC is home to a variety of educational venues for lectures, small group learning, and an array of active hands-on skills training. The clinical skills lab provides low to high fidelity skills trainers including SynDaver® models and ultrasonography machines. This complex houses the DVM Center for Educational Technologies, which provides pedagogical support to faculty for teaching and learning. In addition, VBEC houses the Wellness Room, equipped with weights, treadmills, elliptical machines, and locker rooms, which are available to faculty, staff, and students in our college. The Large Animal Hospital at Texas A&M is totally climate-controlled with separate facilities for isolation and theriogenology cases. The intensive care unit is fully-staffed 24 hours per day and 364 days per year. Clinical services in the hospital include equine orthopedic surgery, equine soft tissue surgery, equine internal medicine, equine sports medicine & imaging, equine theriogenology, and food animal medicine & surgery. Equine and food animal field services provide ambulatory services. An isolation ward is used for housing horses with potentially transmissible disorders. The imaging facilities within the large animal hospital include a dedicated ultrasonography room with numerous start-of-the art ultrasound units, 3 dedicated radiography rooms (3 digital radiograph units), and a full array of endoscopic equipment. There is an attached Diagnostic Imaging and Cancer Treatment Center which houses additional imaging equipment including a 3T Siemens Verio MRI, and a 40-slice Siemens computed tomography unit designed to accommodate both small animals and horses.
