Western Colorado University's School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track accounting faculty position starting in August 2019. We seek candidates with a strong record of success in teaching and a passion for innovative approaches to education.

About the School of Business:

The School of Business is the largest academic unit on Western's campus. The school has 15 full-time faculty members and approximately 450 students.

The faculty are engaged with their students and offer a highly experiential approach to education. Classes are held in the Borick Business Building, which was completed in 2008.

Duties: The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 load in financial accounting and accounting ethics. Strong commitment to effective teaching, advising, service and professional development is expected.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited school.

  • ABDs completing a doctorate at an AACSB-accredited school will be considered and a doctorate is required for tenure.

  • Evidence of successful teaching in financial accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CIA)

  • Prior professional/industry experience.

  • Prior record of exemplary service in higher education.

Additional Application Information:

Salary: $110,000 - $115,000. This position includes work during the summer related to the MBA and other duties. Specific salary depends on experience.

The Resident Director is a 12 month, live-on, and exempt position that oversees the development and management of a comprehensive residential life program within their designated residence hall. The program is grounded in student development theory in support of the mission of the department, Division of Student Affairs and Western Colorado University. The Resident Director will utilize competency-based development to directly supervise undergraduate student staff leaders within their hall. The Resident Director supports the holistic development of 100 to 350 residents on Western Colorado University's campus and reports to the Director of Residence Life and Conference Services. Duties: The Resident Director will be responsible for the following: coordinating and implementing student development and community engagement initiatives; advising and supporting student issues of academic success; supporting intra/interpersonal development and self-authorship; managing all operational aspects of assigned hall; utilizing conduct and incident tracking systems to manage student behavior and communicate with university officials as required; participating in recruitment, hiring and selection of student staff; helping develop and implement training; developing and evaluating student staff; participating in special projects and departmental committees, serving in an on-call capacity and responding to student behavior issues; and assisting with summer conference programming. The Resident Director will be responsible for implementing, improving, assessing and supporting the curriculum model within the department, which includes learning outcomes around 5 pillars: practical life skills, personal well-being, interpersonal engagement, civic engagement, and academic curiosity and success. The Resident Director will be responsible for indirectly advising Community Council within ones assigned area and supporting the newly established Residence Hall Association. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required. Must demonstrate experience with team oriented environment; conflict management, crisis response, mental health, problem solving and critical thinking. Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and efficiently. Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Must demonstrate a willingness to engage in learning and application around topics of evaluation & assessment, student development theory and demonstrated commitment to social justice, demonstrated investment and engagement in self-education around identity, intersectionality, power, privilege, and oppression. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in student affairs, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration. Two or more years of professional or graduate assistantship experience in college personnel administration. Experience supervising, developing, mentoring, and motivating a diverse student staff team. Experience with curriculum model, Experience with supervising or involvement with hall councils, Experience in building collaborative partnerships with faculty, administrators, staff, students, parents/families, and community partners. Experience with StarRez Housing Software, evaluation and assessment, student conduct. Experience as a Resident Assistant, Residence Life Graduate Assistant or similar Residence Life position.
