The Department of Political Science at Saint Peter's University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in American politics beginning in the fall of 2024.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach four courses per academic term, which includes a wide variety of American politics courses, such as the department's introductory political science course and its basic American government course, as well as upper-level courses on Congress, the presidency, the courts, elections, and constitutional law. Additionally, the candidate may be able to teach policy courses focused on the candidate's area of research or professional interest.
We are looking for an individual who is creative, dynamic, and passionate about teaching and working with our students. Academic research and writing in the mentioned subject areas will also be a priority.
Salary Range: $62,000 - $65,000
Qualification Standards
The Department seeks to graduate students with a sound academic knowledge of politics, an appreciation of political engagement, and a direction toward professional careers in government, business, journalism, law, and the non-profit sector. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be expected to devote significant time to mentoring students throughout their undergraduate years and advising students concerning relevant graduate and law school programs. The successful candidate will also be expected to expand existing and develop new internship opportunities for students with local, state and national officials, interest groups, activist groups, and employers.
Education
PhD in American politics or related areas.
