Job Description:

Art Education is an interdisciplinary department that embodies artist-centered, justice-based, community-engaged contemporary practice. Within the first public art college in the country, our vibrant department includes BFA and graduate programs. The successful candidate for this position will direct our historic Saturday Studios Program and teach courses related to pedagogy and/or contemporary studio practices.

This position is governed by the MSCA collective bargain agreement.

Salary: $64,000-74,000

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education, Fine Arts or Directly Related Field. A terminal degree is required for promotion and tenure

  • Experience in public K-12 settings

  • Experience working with children, youth, families, schools, and educational systems that have been historically marginalised, especially in urban contexts.

  • Demonstrated collaborative partnership experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, access, and equity in education

  • Expertise in contemporary art discourse and practice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program administration experience

  • A Terminal degree (MFA/PhD/EdD)

  • Expertise, scholarly or otherwise, supporting racialized, ethno-linguistically diverse and refugee learners

  • Active art practice

  • Demonstrated expertise in culturally-responsive pedagogy
