Temporary Triage Specialist

Expired Job

Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. Denver , CO 80208

Posted 4 months ago

Honor the Promise.

At Argo Group, that is what our US Claims team of approximately 200 employees does each and every day. When the unexpected happens, our Adjusters honor the promise of our insurance policy and do our part to get our insured back to business. With paramount integrity and technical excellence, our Claims team delivers superior financial results to all stakeholders of the claim. We hire the best people, so we can deliver the best result.

We are looking for an exceptional Triage Specialist to join our team on a temporary basis and work in one of offices in Denver (CO), Portland (OR), Peoria (IL), or San Antonio (TX). The assignment is expected to last three months in duration and, since we are actively recruiting to hire a regular full-time employee, could be considered a temp-to-hire role. As the position is classified as temporary, only government mandated benefits are provided (i.e. Medicare, social security, workers' compensation coverage, etc.) in addition to a competitive hourly wage rate.

Sound like a team you would like to join?

First you'll want to make sure you embody our core values as they are the key to our success:

  • We desire to excel

  • We are committed to our clients and to each other

  • We have the courage to do the right thing

  • We apply original thinking

Second, you'll want to make sure the challenge sounds interesting to you. In this role you will:

  • Conduct the initial Claims Investigation primarily via telephone- this requires contact with several claim parties including but not limited to, the claimant, insured/employer, attorneys, healthcare provider, and/or witnesses. During the investigation you will determine compensability issues and identify claims types, applicable policies and coverage issues and subrogation potential.

  • Complete other duties such as receiving new loss reports via telephone, preparing written correspondence, and entering and/or updating claims in our database.

What will you need to be successful here?

  • A minimum of two years' insurance experience so that you are familiar with insurance lingo.

  • A relentless desire to continually update your skill level through continuing education and self-development (we're a bit fanatical about this, so you should be too). This role is a great starting point to developing a career in claims adjusting, though most of our Adjustor roles required a bachelor's degree from an accredited university, so having one, though not required for the Triage Specialist role, is a significant plus.

  • We are on the telephone most of the day. So being able to communicate clearly on the telephone with empathy is crucial. The ability to read, speak, and write English fluently is required. The ability to read, speak, and write Spanish fluently is not required, but is a strong plus.

  • A bit of tough skin. You will be talking with some people who have just suffered a traumatic event and may be a little stressed out. So while we are always professional on the telephone and say "please" and "thank you", sometimes our callers forget these courtesies. You can't let that derail your day.

  • We work in a fast paced environment that is evolving constantly; so flexibility and the ability to thrive in change are important to be successful here. Oh, as is being resourceful on your own.

  • Natural curiosity is key.

  • With lots of tasks competing for your time, excellent time management and prioritization skills are important.

  • Tenacity. We have a very limited time period to complete our work and complete the investigation of the claim, so you have to be tenacious in your ability to interview all necessary parties.

What will we provide to you?

  • An opportunity to be your best and work with talented and inventive professionals at a Company Forbes magazine named to its list of America's 50 Most Trustworthy Financial Companies for the last two years and that A.M. Best has rated an 'A' (Excellent) for 13 consecutive years.

Who are we?

At Argo Group, we leverage the success, discipline and expertise of our people and an understanding of our customers' needs to provide a diverse portfolio of products and services.
