Temporary Theatre Arts Program Costume Shop Manager

The Theatre Arts Program Costume Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of the costume shop, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of costumes for university productions and events. The Manager is responsible for managing inventory, supervising students, and collaborating with faculty and students to meet the creative and practical needs of theatrical productions and other projects.

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the costume shop, including scheduling, budgeting, and inventory management.

• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to develop costume designs that meet the artistic vision of productions while staying within budget and timeline constraints.

• Attendance at production personnel meetings

• May supervise students, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance.

• Oversee the construction, alteration, and maintenance of costumes, ensuring quality and accuracy.

• Manage costume fittings and alterations for actors.

• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the costume shop and storage areas.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and university policies.

• Keep abreast of current trends and techniques in costume design and construction.

• Assist with other production-related tasks as needed.

The mission of the Theatre Arts Program is to provide students with exceptional professional programs, which combine development in artistic disciplines and career preparation in the arts. The Theatre program offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Professional Theatre with concentrations in Acting and Theatre Technology, and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST).

Work Hours Monday

• Friday, 8am

• 5pm with the exception of Tech Weeks when the hours are shifted toward the tech week schedule to accommodate production schedule. Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies.
