Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Temporary Steps to College Teaching Assistants on the Gainesville Campus. Assist the teachers and program coordinators with day-to-day operations and in-class activities as directed. Supervise and mentor students both in class and during lunch, breaks, and recreational time; help with lessons; complete daily clerical tasks as directed; proctor Friday make-up days; and attend program fieldtrips to assist with supervision. The program dates are May 1st, 2024 ¿ June 30th, 2024.
Responsibilities
Assist with day-to-day operations of the assigned classroom; help teacher and students with technical issues, supply delivery, and attendance as directed and assist with monitoring student behavior.
Supervise students to and from buses, to classes and lunch, during designated program breaks, restroom breaks, around campus, and during program field trips and proctored Friday make-up days.
Attend program meetings, including orientations and training sessions, prior to the start and during S2C program.
Assist program coordinators and teachers with family/guardian communication during program (i.e., calling guardians if students are absent).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Spanish fluency preferred.
Current UNG student preferred.
Experience working with youth in out-of-school academic programs or out-of-school programming is preferred.
