Temporary Project Assistant: Latin America and the Caribbean
The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking candidates for a 6-month position with NDI's Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The project assistant will be responsible for assisting with implementation of democratic development programs in this region.
Assist the LAC team in organizing and implementing democracy development programs
Collect and distribute to the LAC team foreign and domestic newspaper, magazine, or journal clippings pertaining to Latin American and Caribbean affairs
Translate documents and messages from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish
Attend meetings and seminars on Latin American and Caribbean affairs and prepare written presentations to LAC team members
Conduct special projects as needed
Assist in providing logistical and administrative support to the LAC team
Assist with administrative duties such as filing, copying and mailings
Bachelor's degree with coursework in political science, international development or additional years of relevant work experience may be substituted for educational requirement on a one-for-one basis
Proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading, writing) required; Proficiency in French preferred
Available a minimum of 30 hours per week for a minimum of three months
Able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work with a team
Diligent in work processes
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Demonstrated interest in Latin America and the Caribbean
Experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.) strongly desired
This is a paid temporary position.
