Temporary Physical Education/Health Teacher

Reports To: Building Principal

Qualification:

• Valid Indiana Teaching License in Physical Education/Health Preferred

Job Goal: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

Responsibilities:

• Work to achieve mastery of state content standards and district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning and skills development in the classroom.

• Demonstrate a knowledge, understanding and application of the subject matter.

• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.

• Identify specific learning objectives in lesson preparation and weekly lesson planning and create learning opportunities to effectively achieve those objectives.

• Assess pupil academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction, including individual educational programs as needed.

• Maintain records of pupil's educational progress and achievement.

• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning obstacles.

• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.

• Budget class time effectively.

• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss student progress.

• Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned by the building principal.

• Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through participation in school or corporation sponsored professional development.

• Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.

• Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.

• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.

• Maintain a high standard of ethical professional conduct when dealing with associates, parents, students and other members of the community.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or designee which shall fall within the scope of employment.

Physical Requirements:

• Employee must be able to see documents clearly, communicate effectively, sit and stand for long periods of time and occasionally be able to lift up to 10 lbs.

Contract Terms:

• July 22, 2024 - October 11, 2024 (59 days)
