Responsibilities Position Summary:
HCCL Patient Account Representatives are exclusively responsible for answering high volume incoming HCCL telephone calls and performs all necessary billing functions and/or claims processing to resolve callers request. Applies practical, efficient, and courteous customer service to quickly meet high demands of position.
Accesses laboratory computer system (APB, CPB) and on-line payer inquiry to appropriately research and resolve HCCL billing inquiries. Have full understanding of clinical laboratory customer service policies and procedures as well as have a full understanding of clinical laboratory billing policies and procedures. Interacts cohesively with Billing Office as with HCCL Customer Service Department.
Participates in staff meetings and training sessions pertaining to position.
Adheres to Quality Control procedures. Responsible for taking payments and balance of Cash drawer on a daily basis. Duties include handling credit card payments according to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS). In addition to the normal background check, a credit check screening will be completed in compliance with Dignity Health policy.
Minimum of two years billing experience required, preferably in a laboratory environment.
Knowledge of government insurance, PPO, Indemnity, HMO, Medicare Risk (etc) billing, policies and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of clinical laboratory tests/procedures.
Medical terminology required.
Must demonstrate the ability to handle people in diverse situations.
