Basic Purpose

Under immediate or general supervision, individual learns to perform a variety of maintenance duties at the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC).

This four to six month temporary position will work a flexible (up to 40 hours) workweek, which includes evenings and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of maintenance duties at the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC).

  • Performs janitorial duties, which includes restroom cleaning.

  • Uses lawn mowers and hand tools.

  • Various landscaping tasks including mowing and weeding.

  • Assists with the opening and closing of athletic fields throughout summer-long weekend tournaments and daily league play.

  • Provides customer service to RAC visitors.

  • Performs daily recreation event support.

Qualifications

Previous parks and facilities maintenance experience preferred.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Must have a High School diploma or G.E.D.

  • Must have basic knowledge of customer service, event management, and facility oversight.

  • Must be flexible, reliable, responsible, and enjoy working with the general public.

  • Must pass a background investigation.

  • Must maintain a level of physical and mental fitness necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

  • Must have a valid Washington State driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the City and the City's insurance carrier.

  • Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be complete as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of customer service, event management, and facility oversight.

  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to work rules and guidelines.

  • Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude.
