Western State Colorado University invites applications for a half time, temporary Office Support Coordinator for the Graduate Program in Creative Writing (GPCW).
Now in its eighth year, the Graduate Program in Creative Writing is a low-residency program that offers on-line courses during the academic year and a two-week intensive residency on Western's campus in mid-July. The summer intensive culminates in the four-day conference Writing the Rockies, which is open to the public.
The program offers both the MA and MFA in Genre Fiction, Screenwriting and Poetry, along with a one-year Certificate in Publishing. Faculty are leaders in their fields and most do not live in the Gunnison Valley. The program currently enrolls about 25 students, although during the summer residency that number is closer to 40, as all three summer cohorts attend. In addition to Writing the Rockies, the program sponsors THINK, an internationally distributed semi-annual journal of poetry, criticism, and reviews.
Duties:The Office Support Coordinator reports to the GPCW Director and assists with all administrative functions in the program. Duties include but are not limited to support with student recruitment, admissions, registration and data collection; course management and academic policies; purchasing and budget tracking; marketing, public relations and development; and the execution of the summer residency and the annual writing conference in July.
A bachelor's degree is required; a degree in English, accounting, business, or communication is preferred, along with an interest in the Humanities. The successful candidate must be diligent and detail-oriented and have strong skills in customer service, written and oral communication, project management, and data collection and transactions.
Individual must also have the ability to prioritize tasks and manage several projects at once. The ideal candidate for this temporary appointment will have at least two years of office experience, excellent computing skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail and online systems entry; strong written and oral communication skills; experience in student services or higher education is preferred.

Compensation: $17.80/hour. Non-classified, hourly, FLSA non-exempt. This position is eligible for the University's shared contribution employee benefit plans.
The position begins at 20 hours/week and will flex with the workload and program enrollment. The candidate must be available to work up to 40 hours per week during the months of June and July supporting residency and conference events, including several weekends.
