Reporting to the Assistant Director of Global Cause Partnerships (Rotary), the Temporary Manager will support UNICEF USA's partnership with Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation. The Manager will specifically provide project management on and ensure proper execution of deliverables regarding engagement events with Rotary International and associated grants. Length of contract is approximately from July 2019 until January 2020.

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

  • Support the overall management of UNICEF USA's partnership with Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation;

  • Manage and execute on various engagement and external affairs initiatives, including but not limited to UNICEF USA strategy and engagement at World Polio Day events; Rotary Day at the United Nations; and other ad-hoc internal and external events and associated projects. Specific projects and tasks to include:

  • Create customized project management plans for significant engagement events, including timelines and responsibilities, to maintain high degree of organization necessary to achieve every project deliverable.

  • World Polio Day. Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver:

  • Customized social and digital media assets that support and amplify Rotary's communications and public awareness strategy;

  • Organize side events (e.g. receptions, speaker panels, etc.) that foster greater awareness of the need to eradicate polio and Rotary's unique leadership role in global efforts. Work with volunteers and vendors to deliver best-in-class engagement events for the partner and relevant constituencies. Secure a venue(s), order materials and create engaging runs-of-show for volunteers.

  • Rotary Day at the United Nations. Manage and execute on deliverables to enable successful UNICEF USA engagement of multiple stakeholders at a critical international convening, including but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to recruit UNICEF speakers who can meet Rotary objectives

  • Write speech scripts, design presentations and prepare briefing notes for said speakers

  • Working with Marketing and Communications colleagues, ensure creation of event communications collateral (e.g. posters, banners, signs, hand-outs, etc.) that promote the Rotary-UNICEF partnership.

  • UNICEF USA Events. Work with internal stakeholders to identify and leverage opportunities to engage, honor and build deeper relationships with Rotary leaders. For example:

  • Serve as a liaison for Rotary staff and volunteers who are invited to UNICEF USA special events, such as programmatic briefing opportunities at the UN, UNICEF USA galas, etc.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the execution of marketing and advocacy initiatives that support the Rotary International partnership and help meet the partner's public awareness goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' direct experience in project and events management and working with high-level donors or clients;

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to form relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and styles and to navigate complex environments;

  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while consistently meeting deadlines is essential;

  • Experience working with large numbers of volunteers, corporate partners and/or vendor management a plus;

  • Action orientation, proven ability to prioritize; work independently but also demonstrated success at working with cross-functional teams; handle multiple, complex tasks simultaneously and generate pragmatic solutions to real or potential problems as well as recognizing and leveraging key opportunities;

  • Knowledge of international development issues, including Polio, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Maternal and Child Health, and UNICEF's comparative advantage and scale;

  • Must demonstrate UNICEF USA Core Values: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Teamwork and Service; and

  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes some weekend and evening commitments, as well as business-related travel.

Must possess current and valid US Work Authorization and be eligible to work for any US employer without sponsorship.
