Position: TEMPORARY LABORER

Location: DPW

Position Type: Non-benefited, non-union

Salary: $15.00 per hour

Hours of work: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform a variety of unskilled labor duties of which the following are typical examples: shoveling materials and leveling areas; loading and unloading supplies; cleaning litter and debris from streets and parking lots; mowing grass using hand or powered equipment; trimming shrubs and lower parts of trees along sidewalks; uses standard hand tools, i.e., shovels and small power tools, such as weed whackers, lawn mowers, sidewalk vacuums and hedge trimmers. Works under the supervision of the Summer Youth Program Supervisor or the Refuse General Foreman.

Priorities are established by the supervisor, Refuse General Foreman, Director of Operations or the DPW Commissioner.

Work is performed outside, in groups of eight to ten (8 - 10) and may be performed in adverse weather conditions.
