The JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State University offers summer camps for preschool to middle school age students. Camps deliver science-based information in a fun, engaging format through mysteries that campers solve, cooking lessons, and garden exploration activities. The unique setting of the camp, seamless blending of outdoor adventure with science, and intimate ratio of campers to instructors are a few of our most touted features.
The JC Raulston Arboretum is looking for a charismatic, engaging Lead Teacher for our Summer Garden Camps. All camps have well established and documented lesson plans that teachers can use as is or make additions to with approval from JCRA staff. The Lead teacher work with the Education Team prior to camp to ensure content and quality of the programming continues to deliver excellent experiences for campers and families. Teachers also have the support of education interns (college-aged students) and adult JCRA volunteers during camp activities and can help with camp preparations. Camp activities take place entirely on JCRA property in the JCRA's education yurt and gardens. Teachers will be expected to attend a pre-camp meeting and also complete camp preparations prior to camp week to ensure all camp materials are ready.
