We are looking to fill one temporary, non-benefitted position in the Office of Graduate Education. The job will start as soon as March 1st, 2021. The work schedule is Monday
The ideal candidate is detail oriented, works well independently, and excels in a fast-paced setting that requires cyclical and recurrent processes.
This is a non-benefitted position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.
While upholding and following university policies and procedures, the following duties are required for this position:
Complete a thorough review of all documents on file for students who have applied to graduate and prepare a high volume of graduation evaluations to be sent to departments and students.
Collaborate with departments to review student academic information and clearly, politely, and effectively communicate with students regarding remaining degree requirements.
Review and approve formatting of theses and dissertations before final submission to the University and provide feedback to students.
Assist with the spring and summer commencement ceremony, including the review and update of the commencement program, preparation of doctoral diplomas at commencement and commencement lineup, if an on-campus ceremony occurs.
Perform clerical and administrative duties, as required, to support the student services areas.
Serve as a back-up receptionist, answering phones, greeting visitors, and answering general questions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be available to work both remotely and on campus Monday-Friday from March through August, with the exception of university holidays and closures.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Intermediate user of Microsoft Office software, including Excel.
Capable of quickly learning and using new software systems including University Banner records system.
Exercises discretion and good judgment.
Performs simple mathematical calculations.
Dependable and able to work well with others in a team environment.
Self-motivated and work well independently with minimal supervision.
Extremely organized and able to multi-task various projects and priorities.
Communicates effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing with students, departments, and administrative offices on campus.
Ability to gather data, compile information, prepare evaluations and clearly explain outcomes to departments and students.
University student services experience.
Experience using a student database system, such as Banner.
Experience reviewing and evaluating university curriculum.
Friday, 8:00 a.m.
4:30 p.m. Seasonal: March 1 - June 30, with possible extension.
