Temporary Foreign Language Coordinator*

General Description

The Orange County Health Department has an opening for a Part-time, Temporary Foreign Language Coordinator. An employee in this position is primarily responsible for providing comprehensive support and Spanish interpretation services for limited English-proficient clients seeking or utilizing the services of the health department in a variety of settings including medical and dental clinics, home visits, classes or events, and community locations.

Work is performed under the general supervision of Compliance Manager, with leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties in terms of planning and accomplishing work. Supervision is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish or human service or health-related field AND two (2) years of work experience in foreign language interpretation and translation in a medical/dental or health care facility; OR

Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency ANDsix (6) years of work experience in foreign language interpretation and translation in a medical/dental or health care facility.

An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a Driver License valid in the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
