About Food Bank for Larimer County:

The Food Bank for Larimer Countys mission is to provide food to all in need through community partnerships and hunger-relief programs. We are a member of Feeding America, the nations largest food bank and food rescue network and are the only Feeding America clearinghouse for donated food in Larimer County. The food donations we receive are distributed to individuals in need through three programs: Fresh Food Share, Nutritious Kitchen, and Nourishing Network.

Summary:
Under the direction of the Kids Cafe Manager and Programs Director, the Kids Cafe Delivery Technician is responsible for consistent Kids Cafe meal/snack delivery, to assist the Child-Nutrition team in any meal or snack preparation as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as public relations representative for the Food Bank at all times.

  • Provides daily food deliveries to designated meal sites in a timely manner. Maintain adequate inventories of supplies at sites.

  • Acts as meal prep assistant to Kids Cafe Manager on a as needed basis.

  • In addition to following established route schedule, responds to daily requests for delivery as appropriate.

  • Provides pick ups as needed for special assignments, such as events, catering, etc.

  • Unloads food and equipment at the end of the shift.

  • Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of Kids Caf vehicles.

  • Maintains daily routine to ensure vehicle maintenance and cleanliness and performs vehicle inspections on a daily basis.

  • When handling prepared and/or perishable foods, takes all precautions to follow safe food-handling guidelines, and ensures that the service sites are doing the same. Strong emphasis on food temps when leaving kitchen.

  • Follows all safety guidelines and obeys all traffic laws (including wearing seat belt at all times), drives with extreme caution to ensure the safety of co-workers, volunteers, and visitors.

  • Notifies supervisor of any route changes or problems with route.

  • Organize storage areas and maintain organization of those areas.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively at all levels. Produces easily understandable reports and paperwork.

  • Effectively deals with others, both internally and externally. Builds trust through regular, open and honest communication.

  • Regularly looks for common ground and encourages collaboration among team members.

SFSP (Summer)

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual preferred.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Other Qualifications:
Valid US Driver's License, good driving record

Physical Demands: Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, and repetitively lift; he/she must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate portable radios (i.e. walkie talkie), rider floor scrubber and scissor lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Specifications:

  • Ability to lift a 50 lb. box off the ground (pallet) to chest high. Turn up to 180 degrees and put box on another pallet up to chest high up to 10 feet away.

  • Ability to Put up to 5 - 40 lb. boxes on two wheeled hand truck and push truck up to 60 feet. Over curbs and possibly up ramp that could be for area as high 4 Feet above the wheeled height.

  • Ability to get into Reefer truck box up 3 steps. The first step is 29 inches off the ground and the next 2 are 12 inches apart. The only thing to hang onto is a metal bar that starts above your head on the side of the truck.

  • Ability to enter cab of truck up 2 steps, the first being 19 inches above ground with next 1 being 14 Inches above

  • The ability to use Manual pallet jacks on sometimes slightly imperfect surfaces up to 1,000 pounds up to 60 feet pushing or pulling.
