  • Performsother relevant responsibilities as required by the program.

  • Must beresponsible, able to handle confidential material and able to workindependently.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

VIEW JOBS 11/5/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-03T00:00 POSITION INFORMATION: Under direct supervision ofa physician or other medical personnel, performs routine patient care for pediatric patients only. The functionssuch as physician assistance, patient placement, testing, informationgathering, nursing duties, chaperoning, supply maintenance, and scheduling,referrals, inventory. May coordinateschedules of patients in an outpatient clinic and provide clerical assistancetoward the smooth operation of the facility. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 1. PhysicianAssistance. Assists physician orother medical personnel in the examination process as required ornecessary. Performs order entry toelectronic medical records, i.e., prescription refills, lab orders, radiologyorders, injections, etc. 2. Patient Placement. Places patients in exam rooms. Drapes and positions patients for appropriateexams or procedures. Assists inrestraining or controlling patients (infants, children, geriatrics, etc.). 3. Test Performance. Performs routine tests on patients such asaudiograms, vision, spirometer, EKG, rapid strep, urinalysis, and urinepregnancy tests. Assists withcardiovascular stress tests, fetal non-stress tests, and OB ultrasounds. 4. InformationGathering. Obtains and records vitalsigns including body temperature, height, weight, and blood pressure. Takes and documents complaints and patienthistories including allergies, immunization histories, etc. Maintains patient confidentiality. Receives and returns telephone calls from orto patients and pharmacies. Obtains authorizations and referrals. 5. Nursing. Performs various nursing duties such assuture removal, casting and steristrip applications, and administration ofinjections, venipunctures, breathing treatments Assists with both surgical andnon-surgical procedures. 6. Chaperoning. Chaperones examinations and patients. 7. Supply Maintenance. May be responsible for stocking exam rooms,taking inventory, ordering supplies, and sterilizing instruments and/or equipment. 8. Scheduling. Makes scheduling arrangements with otherhealthcare professionals and facilities. 9. Training. Assists with training other MedicalAssistants. 10. As Needed. Performs various duties as needed tosuccessfully fulfill the function of the position, including referrals incoming& outgoing, inventory of VFC vaccines. REQUIREMENTS: Education: High school diploma or GED and qualifiedABR-OE (Assessment Based Recognition Order Entry) or graduated from anaccredited Medical Assistant Program. Experience: 24 months experience in patient care as a MedicalAssistant or 24 months performing electronic order entry as a qualifiedABR-OE. Certifications/Licenses: CPR Certification andCertifiedas a Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, or qualifiedABR-OE. Equivalent/Substitution: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/OTHERCHARACTERISTICS: Knowledgeof medical terminology. Abilityto interact professionally with healthcare practitioners and patients. Abilityto effectively communicate information. Abilityto work as a team player. Mustbe detail oriented and complete work tasks. Abilityto maintain composure even in difficult situations.
