Position Summary

This is an applicant pool for future temporary positions as a Bookstore Clerk on the La Plata campus. This applicant pool will be accessed by the hiring manager when there is a hiring need.

The duties and responsibilities of a bookstore clerk are the following:

  • Provide excellent customer service, answer telephones, and perform general clerical and housekeeping duties.

  • Accurately perform transactions on the Point of Sale cash register.

  • Assist in the shipping and receiving of textbooks and general merchandise from vendors and other CSM College Stores.

  • Load and unload shipments. Boxes of books may weigh as much as 55 lbs.

  • Stock shelves.

  • Assist with the pricing of stock.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Training

  • Retail sales experience preferred.

  • Customer service experience preferred.

  • Experience operating a Point of Sale cash register.

  • Ability to lift 50-70 lbs.

  • Flexibility to work additional hours during textbook deliveries, book rush, and textbook buyback periods

VIEW JOBS 11/16/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-14T00:00 Position Summary The Media and Graphics Developer creates HTML emails and designs for various target audiences through electronic communications using state-of-the-art technology and software applications. The Developer creates designs specifically for the Internet, e-mail marketing campaigns, social networking sites, the college's customer relationship management systems, and other multi-media outlets that are integrated with the College's current marketing initiatives. Multi-media designs are to include but are not limited to dynamic e-mail blasts, e-newsletters, web landing pages, personalized URLs (PURLs), and publications, graphics for internal display systems, web-banners, wireframes, pay-per-click ads, interactive pdfs, and more. The work schedule for this position is 28 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required. E-mail/Multi-media/Social Marketing Requirements * Promotes the college by consistently designing and producing creative and professional e-mail and multi-media designs using various computer platforms and software applications * Creates designs for multi-media that are integrated with current marketing initiatives * Edits the content from print materials to support readability in multi-media designs * Creates and manages content for the College's social media including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. * Stays current with new trends in e-mail design, responsive (mobile) design, and social media. * Has knowledge of, stays current on, and continually utilizes best practices for e-mail accessibility (ADA Compliance) * Stays current with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques, UTM codes, and PURLs. * Prepares multi-media designs properly for Web Developers to integrate on the CSM web site * Has a thorough understanding of e-mail marketing development tools (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Constant Contact) * Co-manages the scheduling and content of internal monitor system * Maintains a working knowledge of list management and mass e-mail best practices B.Computer Operation/Production * Has an above average understanding of Client Side Coding (HTML, CSS, etc.) * Operates the PC computer with Windows 7 or higher platform * Is proficient using the latest version of Adobe's Creative Suite (CS), including Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Professional * Continually learns to use new social media platforms and software by training through webinars, online resources, conferences, seminars, and keeps up-to-date with software upgrades * Anticipates future software and typestyle needs * Troubleshoots computer problems * Designs and produces various print materials (forms, flyers, brochures, programs, ads, etc.) using Adobe Creative Suite software applications when necessary * Has an understanding of pre-press and can create pre-flight files for printing with external vendors and the internal Printing Services * Maintains soft copy and electronic filing systems per the departments organizational processes, including bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports * Coordinates with the Creative Services Director and Web Services to take multi-media designs from concept to completion 10% - Editing and Proofing Copy * Edits copy to be appropriate for multi-media designs to support readability * Proofreads and verifies copy as necessary to ensure accuracy of content and style * Uses the college Style Manual, Webster's Dictionary, Chicago Manual of Style 10% - Communication * Serves as contact person when the Creative Services Director is absent by being responsible for assisting clients, making sure multi-media designs are prepared according to schedule and that the proofing process is followed * Coordinates and assists other departments with templates, imagery, and graphics for digital materials * Coordinates with Web Services and Creative Services Director to take digital and multi-media designs from concept to completion 5% - Additional Duties * Assists in the entire process of making, organizing, distributing proof copies * Attends departmental as well as other meetings as required * Participates in training that will add to job knowledge * Participates in college-sponsored activities, committees, etc. as time allows * Works together with other members of the department in learning new software, and operation of new equipment * Attends workshops to update computer skills and design techniques * Performs other duties as required Minimum Education and Training * BA in art, or graphic design, or web design required; or, a bachelor's degree and relevant experience in multi-media, web, e-mail, and graphic design * Three years experience in a marketing agency or in an educational or commercial institution * Demonstrated artistic talent and capability as evidenced by a strong portfolio. * Grammar and proofreading skills desired Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of all pertinent copyright laws * Knowledge of typesetting, formatting, and designing guidelines * Knowledge of specifications for setting up jobs for both print and multi-media * Makes certain all applicable nondiscrimination and ADA policies are properly displayed in appropriate multi-media and publications * Adheres to CAN-SPAM law * The Media and Graphics Developer should be able to write and design creative content for e-communications and work with marketing team members to ensure that content is accurate on the web site and is consistent from printed materials to the web. * The Developer must be able to seamlessly translate content from printed material to multi-media designs in various media types. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
