Schaeffler, a dynamic global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking a TEMPORARY Technical Service Representative - Bearings and Seals to support our Automotive Aftermarket location in Valley City, Ohio, 20 miles southwest of Cleveland. This is for a approximately 3-months.

The position of Temporary Technical Service Representative is responsible for providing technical assistance to customers through communication via the technical hotline call center and email communication for a 3-month period. This position will be responsible for:

  • Having the ability to identify parts, specifications and provide general information for applications of passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks, some agricultural equipment and various other applications.

  • Having the ability to professionally and effectively interface with customers and coworkers.

  • Possessing positive and clear language skills on the telephone to assist the customer, installer or end user of Schaeffler products.

  • Having a strong ability to multitask while on the telephone, computers, applications and other tools and resources in order to support the customer.

  • Using excellent communication skills with a positive attitude to keep the customer engaged as you work to solve their problem and answer their questions. Positive tone of voice while communicating is key.

  • Technical degree or college education or equivalent, in Automotive Technology highly preferred

  • ASE Certified in: A4 Suspension and Steering, A5 Brake Systems,

  • *Also preferred: A1 Engine Repair, A3 Manual Drivetrain and Axle, A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in automotive drivetrain repair and vehicle suspension and chassis systems

  • Automotive diagnosis repair experience on multiple brands and models of vehicles

  • Knowledge in manual drivetrains and axles a plus

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

  • Prior Technical Service or Customer Service a plus

Other duties may be assigned. * Leads all engineering projects within assigned area - new business and current programs. * Leads engineered solutions to improve Safety, Quality, Downtime, MRO Costs through continuous improvement activity. * Responsible for defining manufacturing processes and equipment requirements for new business and design changes * Designs methods for maintaining or increasing production levels while improving safety, production costs, yields, and quality. * Designs and conducts plant trials to determine performance capabilities. * Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to gather information, provide guidance for implementation of improvements, and promote bilateral exchange of ideas and knowledge * Seeks to reduce engineering costs, decrease start up time and initial scrap percentages through experienced input. * Develops vendor sources and works with them to continuously improve their costs, and services, thereby enhancing the competitive position of Shiloh. * Assists Shiloh employees with the preservation of technology through maintenance of library, manuals, and technical development for production parts processing. * Works with corporate sales in quoting new processes / equipment / tooling for future business. * Works with design engineers to improve design for manufacturability. * Reviews product, equipment and tooling design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications. * Works with customers and quality engineering in resolving design and test problems. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases. * Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget. * Works with maintenance team to troubleshoot tooling, equipment and quality issues. * Guide and mentor junior team members * This position requires some travel for business purposes, including but not limited to vendor/customer visits and machine follow-up, plant launch support, conferences and training. * Other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university; and seven to ten years engineering experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment (preferably in a tier one automotive supplier); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
