Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 - 4:30pm, for the Summer (approx 2 months)
Location: Amherst
Position Summary: Performs a variety of clerical duties involved in maintaining patient medical records to include but not limited to; consistently monitoring the electronic fax and direct messaging inbox. The Medical Records clerk sorts, manages and triages incoming faxes and direct messages to relevant staff, physicians or workgroups. Must handle patient's sensitive data in a timely and HIPAA compliant manner.
Responsibilities of Position:
Sorting fax /direct messaging documents as they are received, attaching to the patient's chart, and triaging to appropriate staff within the EMR system.
Identifies and understands incoming documents to determine how and where they should be classified or filed. Sorts or classifies those documents appropriately. Follows guidelines such as content, purpose, user criteria, and chronological, alphabetical or numerical order.
Completely follows through with requests and inquiries in a professional manner.
Follows all clinic policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department.
Demonstrates the ability to accept responsibility for appropriate conduct within the office setting and with other department associates by calm, respectful interactions with other representatives of services at the Dent.
Functions as a member of the health care team related to patient care by interactions and cooperation with physicians and other health care professionals.
Ensures accuracy of medical record content for physicians' review.
Completes clerical duties in a time efficient manner as set forth by the Team Leader.
Reports errors or problems so that appropriate action may be taken for patient care.
Other duties as assigned and requested.

Skills & Experience Necessary:
General office skills, including general working knowledge of computer applications: i.e.MS Windows, MS Word, and Email.
Planning, problem solving and organizational skills
Computer data entry experience
Must be precise and accurate
Must be detail oriented
Knowledge of general office equipment including multi-line phone, computer, copier, and fax machines
Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and co-workers
Ability to be flexible
Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
Previous medical records\chart prep experience preferred
Required Education
Working Conditions:
Normal working environment, typical of most office settings.
Moderate physical effort, requires some lifting of files, usually not in excess of 40 pounds.

Compensation:
Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range
Rates are commensurate with experience
