A Teller II has the responsibility to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position.

  • Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently and confidentially according to South State Bank Service Standards.

  • Knows and understands the products and services offered by the Bank. These include facts and features, benefits and advantages, rules and regulations, price structure and a simple definition of each service offered.

  • Able to identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues. Seeks the opportunity to expand customer relationships by making referrals as outlined in the goals for this position.

  • Presents a neat and professional personal appearance, in accordance with bank policy.

  • Knows and ensures compliance to all banking regulations to include Regulation CC and Bank Secrecy Act.

  • Performs the following teller duties:

  • Processes transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts

  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area

  • May assist in guiding and training new tellers

  • May allow customers access to safe deposit boxes

  • Cashes checks and processes savings withdrawals within assigned limits and in accordance with prescribed procedures

  • Sells certified checks within assigned limits

  • Balances transactions on a daily basis

  • May service/balance ATM

  • May utilize the branch capture system

  • Knows and follows policies and procedures in completing transactions, minimizing operational errors and maintaining a proper work flow.

  • Knows and follows the branch's security and audit procedures and understands the function and operation of the security devices.


  • More than 18 months experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in the Teller I job function and demonstrates willingness and ability to perform the duties of the Teller II position

  • Additional Responsibilities may include Vault Responsibilities or Back-Up Vault Responsibilities


  • Accepts other duties as assigned.


  • Education: High School Diploma

  • Experience: Cash Handling, Sales, Customer Service; Previous banking experience preferred

  • Knowledge:Good interpersonal skills, good computer skills, ability to read, write, speak and understand English


  • New Employee Orientation

  • Teller Training and Relationship Skills

  • Annual Regulatory Compliance training


  • Additional training may be required dependent upon experience.


This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations, and identify customers.


This position does not require travel.

Specific Duties This working position is responsible for the installation and repair of plumbing and associated systems, LP Gas supply, Waste Collection and Potable Water necessary to operate a major institution. The incumbent in this position is responsible for, but not limited to: * Reading all blueprints related to tasks assigned. * Following approved methods and procedures, provisions of all required local, state or federal codes, tool, safety and established security procedures. * Performing repairs and preventive maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent. * Completing assigned activities. * Organizing and scheduling work to be performed and requisitions necessary supplies to ensure completion of tasks in a timely manner and adheres to the maintenance of the institution. * Preparing reports of progress and performance for assigned inmates for the use by the inmate's classifications team in measuring and determining the rehabilitative progress of the assigned inmate and provides personal counseling when necessary for inmates consistent with motivational needs and the development of a positive approach to rehabilitation efforts. * Maintaining custody and control of inmates assigned under the supervision of the position in accordance with accountability requirements for inmates outlined in the operational procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's) * Knowledge of procedures for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and heating fixtures and accessories. * Skills in using pipe cutters, reamers, threading machines, and other specialized tools and equipment. * Ability to work in a training capacity with people in individual and group settings * Ability to collect, record, and evaluate data relating to the training of individuals. * Ability to prepare and maintain records and other instructional material. * Ability to work independently. * Ability to speak clearly and correctly to individuals and groups. * Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. * Ability to communicate effectively. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. * Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to vocational instruction.
