Job Title: Telecommunications - VOIP Analyst
Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt
Reports to: Director, Network, Infrastructure, and Communications
Pay Grade: TC-2, 250 days
Dept./School: Technology and School Services
Primary Purpose: Telecommunications/VOIP Analyst is primarily responsible for installing, operating, programming, and maintaining hardware and software for switching and dialing equipment used in Cypress Fairbanks ISD. This position services, and repairs telephones and other communication equipment on district property. May install equipment in new locations or install wiring and telephone jacks in buildings under construction.
Qualifications:
Education / Certification: Degree from an accredited college or university or three to five years of related experience in voice/data communication environments.
Special Knowledge/Skills: Telecommunications/VOIP Analyst is responsible for designing, reviewing, analyzing, and maintaining an organization's voice communications system.
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years experience with local exchange carriers and various voice technologies such as basic Telco PBX switch management and VoIP technology.
Minimum of two (2) years experience in installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and support of WAN hardware such as CSU/DSUs, routers, and switches.
Minimum of two (2) years experience in Cisco Call Center Manager Programming.
Knowledge of basic telecommunications topics: Analog POTs lines, PSTN circuits (PRI, T1, SIP, FXO, and FXS).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving/task management skills.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Ensure all new customer accounts are configured correctly and promptly.
Receive, review and complete tickets for voice needs district-wide.
Monitor switch alarms for correct operation and utilization.
Makes suggestions to end users regarding voice communications software and hardware solutions, and offers support and troubleshooting.
Ensures uninterrupted access to all voice telecommunication features, including voicemail and VoIP systems.
Reports on system specifications to support upgrades and to ensure proper integration.
Coordinates upgrade schedules with internal or external programmers.
Makes suggestions to end users regarding voice communications software and hardware solutions, and offers support and troubleshooting.
Ensures uninterrupted access to all voice telecommunication features, including voicemail VoIP systems.
Perform technical and analytical work planning, developing, implementing, integrating, utilizing, modifying, and enhancing telecommunications systems, facilities, and procedures.
Performs site surveys, traffic studies and reviews work pertaining to telecommunications systems which consist of inside cable plant systems, outside cable plant systems (i.e., fiber optics, copper and coaxial, access holes, and duct systems) transmission systems, services, and premise wiring which is associated with existing infrastructure, new construction, upgrades, and renovations for Cypress Fairbanks ISD.
Performs various duties to integrate add, move, or change voice and data cabling for phones, networks, and peripherals, including Unified Communications (UC) Internet Protocol (IP) telephones and features involving strategic and tactical networks.
Interfaces with customers and provides IT telephone service to the desktop.
Interfaces with vendors for ordering, supporting, troubleshooting, and installation of services/equipment.
Provide after-hours support as scheduled and on a rotational on-call basis.

Frequent district-wide travel and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Tools/Equipment used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
Environment: Frequent district wide travel.
Mental Demands: Work with the frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Annual Contract: 250 days
SALARY:
$45,615 (TC-2)
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees
